Phil, obtaining his last bit of reasonably-long free time this ninedays, knocked at the study door, since Luc had insisted on the just-sauntering-in policy when trying to find these people.
Kage is obsessively re-organizing his precious collection, and grumbling in a cranky-firebug kinda way. But he'll answer the knock, opening the door with a scowl that is instantly erased, as Phil is greeted properly.
Faces are made. Unpleasant, wounded faces. "Someone was messing with my books," he pouts. He's also just going to hang there a bit, Phil, unless you have some objection.
He feels a little silly there in the doorway, so he'll lead Phil into the study proper. No chairs except the one at the desk, but Kage sprawls on the pile of pillows in front of the fireplace.
"So how has your week been? I haven't seen Val to ask recently."
"And it's really good to see you, you know." Kage missed you, Phil.
He shrugs. "Honestly? It looks like they were searching for something, like they were just gone through in general? And they let one of the cats in, because there is orange fur on my leather journal." Kage is torn between the agony of traumatized books, and the joy of Phil!
"Ugh. I've had people leave important equipment in the stables once or twice, but the worst I can complain of is leaving a record tablet near the brazier." Frowny Phil is frowny.
Kage is wracking his brain to figure out why brazier = bad. Phil can probably see the lightbulb when he figures it out. "Because they're wax, right? And that means the thing was ruined, and the records were gone?"

"Happier subjects, I hope. To what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you again?" And it's obvious by Kage's face, it is a pleasure.

"Is there anything I can get you to eat or drink?"
