I just watched an Oprah show tonight that focused on High Schools and why violence is occurring in many of them. The study took teenagers from many different clicks and they played games together, and had discussions were everyone would confess or talk about something that's going on in their lives. Since I watched it, I started thinking 'what would I have said back then', and "what would I say now.
Everyone started with the phrase: "If you really knew me, you would know...."
It was amazingly touching, and brought people together in that high school. I thought that I'd start one here:
If you really knew me, you would know that-
Behind the "shyness" there lies a lot of personality-
that I have a combination of perfectionism/stubbornness/and compassion within me.
You would know that I have a very childish side that I use to try to make people laugh and have fun.
You would know that I'm not really innocent, even though I can be quiet or childish.
You would know that I've never been drunk, and never plan to be. (and no that doesn't make me innocent.)
You would know that, yes, I have had sex.
You would know that I don't belong to a religion, however, I don't completely discount their teachings. Formal/Orthodox Religion has simply never been a part of my life.
You would know that I had two surgeries when I was a young teenager: one for scoliosis, and the other to remove a non-cancorous cyst. The combination of the two made me feel as though I was growing up faster than my peers.
You would also know that since those surgeries I've become less active... however, I do plan to fix that! ^^
You would know that despite the stubbornness, I am a very sensitive person.
You would know that I often second guess myself on decisions and I have a hard time making up my mind. ... and that that often makes me feel rather pathetic.
you would know that at my worst, I have developed a need for support and to be around people to keep my negative thoughts at bay.
Lastly, You would know that I'm harder on myself than I am on anyone else.
However, I pride myself in that I never give up, and that I make an effort to challenge myself in school.
