70. Frozen

Based on a prompt from a 100 Themes Challenge I’m trying to do. If you've seen this on deviantart or fanfiction.net I made a few changes.

Disclaimer: If I owned Axis Powers Hetalia, it’d be a lot slashier, Canada would be more than an afterthought and I’d know Japanese. As none of these things are true, I don’t own, so don’t sue.

Russia was frozen. No matter what time of year or how much vodka he drank, he could never seem to get warm. But he had a choice. He could be warm or he could have the most brilliant military commander in the history of the world. General Winter.

In 1223 the Mongol Empire invaded, and conquered. Most of Russia was under their rule. When he finally escaped the Mongol conquerors he was shaken. So many nations and people wanted to rip Russia apart and take pieces for themselves that he couldn’t handle it himself. So he made a deal with the devil.  “Make it so no one will ever take my land from me again,” that was what he had asked for.  And in saving his land from the power and land hungry nations of the world, he gave his body and soul to General Winter. Winter took command of his land most of the year, and he kept his promise. No one had ever taken Russia’s lands again.

Sometimes Russia regretted giving his soul to the General. He had become cold and cruel, unapproachable and unstable. But then, it didn’t matter. One day everyone would be one with him. And then he would be safe, no longer needing General Winter, and he could be warm again.

For anyone who cares, this was the original.

Russia was frozen. No matter what time of year or how much vodka he drank, he was never warm. But he had a choice. He could be warm or he could have the most brilliant military commander in the history of the world. General Winter. So many people wanted pieces and parts and all of him that Russia made a deal. A deal with the devil.  “Make it so no one will ever take my land from me,” that was what he had asked for.  And in saving his land from the power and land hungry nations of the world, he froze. General Winter took command of his land most of the year, no enemy had ever breached his defenses, no one had taken Russia’s land. Sometimes he regretted being so frozen, so desolate, unapproachable. But then, it didn’t matter. One day all would be under his control, and Ivan was sure that he could move somewhere in the world warmer than Russia.

russia, general winter
