Music I Like: Blue Oyster Cult - Veteran of the Psychic Wars
This is a band that I feel either gets knocked a lot/ignored unfairly. It's possibly because, their most popular song, 'Don't Fear the Reaper' is overplayed, and people perhaps mistakenly believe them to be a one hit wonder, I don't know. In the face of that, they are one of my favorite bands. I personally feel that they have numerous, far superior songs to 'Reaper', and this is one of them.
Evoking vivid science fiction imagery, using post traumatic stress syndrome metaphors, this song always draws strong visions to my imagination. I often draw while listening to this piece. This particular clip here is the live version, which further emphasizes the apocalyptic mood of this piece.
