Week 4 Day 1

Oh my god I did it!  I ran for five minutes in a row... twice!  I think w4d1 is a big turning point in the couch25k program: not only is it the first day of the second trimester (so to speak), it's also the first day where the walking intervals are shorter than the running intervals and you spend more time running than walking (well, not including the warmup and cooldown).  Moreover, the total of 16 minutes of running seems absolutely unreal to me... this is the first time that I can really see myself finishing the program and running for fitness.  Awesome.

It helped that I was on the treadmill directly in front of the tv showing ESPN, which was showing yesterday's stage of the Tour de France.  I haven't watched the Tour since I broke up with Luke, because it reminded me too much of him and I was so angry.  But I've been sucked back into it again, and I'm so glad... I'm glad I'm not angry at Luke anymore (for goodness' sake, it's been five years) and I'm glad that I can watch something I enjoy again.  I'd watched stage 9 on Sunday, of course, but even rewatching it today made running a lot easier.  I should try to time my workout on Wednesday so that I catch the finish of stage 11!
