Reached my short-term goal

Nov 17, 2007 08:29

I first started this journal in August, when I was 248 pounds.  At that point, my short-term goal was to be in the 220s by mid-November... I was going back to my doctor for a follow-up on my thyroid medication and I would be seeing my boyfriend for the first time in three months.

This morning - the morning of my short-term-goal - I weighed 199.  ( Read more... )

When I lost a bunch of weight when I was 17, I took for granted that it would stay that way. In my early 20's, I was down to 134 pounds - way too thin for a person my height (5" 10"), but my body stayed that weight. I ate anything I wanted and exercised 6-7 times week.

Yes, the word "battle" just throws up red flags for me. Basically, when I hear that word I think of a war, and that in itself is scary. But, I like what you said...weight loss is a process of learning. I can live with that. I've educated myself about food more now that I am 45 years old then when I was in my 20's.

Yes, I think we all did stupid things at some point in our lives to lose the weight. Myself included! I think the absolute worst diet I've ever been on was Herbalife (the Gold plan). Had to drink a shake (meal replacement) for breakfast and dinner; lunch was "healthy"; lean protein (about 6 oz.) and lots of veggies (no carbs, though) and two snacks that could have filled a cavity! I would binge for days around my period. Then it was soooooooo hard to jump back onto the bandwagon. After the 4th month of this, I just gave up because I was constantly fighting hunger. And stupid me did this diet twice more after failing! And failed again both times - I gave up dieting after that. It was horrible.

Yes, I think the "hard" way is best. It's much healthier, that's for sure!
