And, Wow, the Bicycle's Just Fine

It's just me who's been a little lackadaisical. I've been busy, mind you, doing adult-type stuff. And I'm happy about that.
It's nice to be able to finally post, and not be whining about things.
In fact, I can happily report that the last thing I think I whined about, the inability to get our phones to connect with our new router and wireless system, has been resolved. Because BB realized that he had somehow dropped one digit from the absurdly long string of numbers that was our new system's password. This was after we'd successfully used the correct new password to connect a couple of our computers, including my laptop. But somehow, when he wrote it out again on a piece of paper, the digit got dropped, and neither of us noticed. Cue the "OMG, WTF is wrong!" techno-angst.
So we entered the correct password into our phones, held our breath and - voila! - they connected. Cue the "OMG, w00t!!1!" techno-joy.
Now all we have to do is figure out how to get one of our two printers back online. I think the newly corrected password may be the key.
Other good news: BB had a minor surgical procedure, in which one of his pain doctors injected steroids into muscles in his neck. Unlike the steroidal shots he gets in his back on an intermittent basis, receiving them in the neck required him to be put under into a fairly deep twilight sleep. But it seems to be having a positive effect. Since his neck and shoulder pain have been really bad over the last few months, this is good news. He's also had botox shots in the bottom of his feet, which he and his neuro hope will relax his toes. They have been clenching non-stop over the last year or two, and the pain has finally become really hard for him to bear. Watching him get the shots was interesting. Those in his right foot? No problem. Those in his left foot? Whoah - the pain lifted him off the examining table twice. Those shots seem to be less successful, but we'll see.
Another adult thing that I managed to do is write up (with the help of the amazing freewill.com, which I'll happily pimp because it's, well, amazing) very basic mirror wills for BB and me. Our longtime friend and onetime attorney, Dr. Gonzo, had offered to write up wills for us free of charge, but I waited too long, and she let her license lapse because, hey, she gets to retire, too. She offered to walk us through putting our wills together, and we will get together with her, but I thought I'd try doing it online and my bet is that she'll look at it and say - yeah, this is OK. Just in case, however, I also bought a different will kit. No matter what, BB and I will finally have American wills (which we will, of course, get witnessed and notarized.) The next step is living wills for us. freewill.com can walk me through that as well. Yay, adulthood!
Final adult thing: I have, for only the second time in my life, a credit card. We had a credit card back when we were very young and foolish, and it took us a bit of time and creditor dodging, decades ago, to get out from under that. In the 40-odd years since we cleared that mess up, we've used cash, checks, and debit cards. And I've been happy with that. But you can't rent a car with a debit card, and I want to rent one in Nova Scotia when I go up there next month for my high school reunion. So I got a union-supported credit card, which I'm using to buy several small things, and paying them off before the end of the month. (I was surprised to find that my credit score was about 200 points better than I thought it was. Nice to know, but this card is for one thing and one thing only. Yay, more adulthood.
Finally, returning to better things than adulthood: I'm on my fifth, yes fifth, Arcane AU fic. I still can't get it out of my system. I'm also very close to finishing the novel (yes, I know I say that a lot, but at this point, we're close to the execution of one villain by our two protagonists, and the subsequent upending of their world's economic and political order. Sort of. I'm writing both at the same time, bouncing from one to the other. And I need to finish my 8,000-word-thus-far 13th Doctor massive crossover fic. Oh, and the original short story ...
Huh. A lot of writing to do. Also, editing the young gentleman's fic is still on the table.
There. Now you're caught up!
Wait, I successfully made cabbage rolls tonight, and I'm still making our bread, with varying degrees of success. So there's that as well.
Oh, and Trump minion Peter Navarro
got arrested, handcuffed, and put in leg irons today. Life is good.
