Cats Go to Heaven

One of the three little kittens born over the weekend at Tiny Kittens in Langley, B.C., died this afternoon of complications caused by a congenital heart defect. Tesla was her name, and no one had thought she had a problem. It was her sister, Allie, who everyone worried about. As everyone on the Tiny Kittens Youtube Channel chat agreed, at least she was warm, well fed, and loved for the very short time she was here.

This has happened before. Even in the short time I've been obsessively watching all the kittens on TK's channel, I saw two mothers lose two kittens each, again after just a couple of days of life. None of these kittens are mine, and yet my afternoon was dampened when I saw the news. Poor little thing. This mom, Princess Consuela, is taking good care of her remaining two, Allie and Bentley; I hope she doesn't lose any more.

It reminds me a) that life isn't fair for kittens, even the ones who are beloved (as Tesla was for her short time here) and cared for, which makes the lives of feral cats even more sad for me to consider, and b) sometimes you have to take comfort where you can when considering these little ones.
