Spending a month of many agonizing hours in front of my computer netted me a grade of 84% on a 22 page paper for a class that covered the Weimar period of German history. The fact that he gave me a percentage grade on a writing assignment speaks volumes about this professor. Obviously, I am not pleased. Choice selections from the professor's 2 pages of detailed comments include: "These kinds of statements are a good start for a thesis," "The paper shows the start of some good research," and "This is an example, of many I could point out, where the writing could be stronger."

What I have drawn from this:
1. There are many reasons why I am not a historian.
2. No one has ever heavily critiqued my writing. I refuse to believe I write poorly, so either this guy has very rigid standards, or I truly don't write well when I have to produce work I don't care about.

Sigh. I've never received such a bad grade for so much effort.
