So, last night we went to CiCi's (pizza buffet) and I managed to slip on a wet spot on the floor. Went down on my left knee, which coincidentally enough is the one I fell on during my last basketball game in high school, doing damage that it's never fully recovered from. It's sore today, but not too bad. I decided not to run, though, b/c it seemed like just asking for trouble. Ow.

Still reading Thomas Covenant. Midway through the second book, and I'm getting more into it. Still want to smack him, though.

Also reading Steven Harper's Silent Empire series. Those of you who have any appreciation for (soft) scifi or action/adventure should read these. I picked them up because I have a soft spot for any story with gay protagonists, but fell in love with more than just the central character (Kendi) and his boyfriend/partner (Ben). Not only are these two guys drawn as fully rounded characters who love each other but don't always have the easiest path to a perfect relationship, but they're also surrounded by a recurring cast of well-developed characters. What's more, most of these characters are strong, competent women who each have their own backstories, issues, etc. The universe they live in is developed in a way that it feels "real", as well. I really wish I wasn't on the last book; I could live with these guys for much, much longer than I've got. logophilos, I really think you'd like these books as they have a lot of the same qualities as your writing (the varied characters, the plot not dominated by romance even though the relationships are all important to the story, the interesting world-building). And the rest of you? Unless you just hate scifi with a passion, you'd like them, too.

books, health
