...I've just been busy as hell for the last two months. *abandons Monty Python voice*
How is everyone? (Assuming anyone still has me friended, it's definitely been a while.) :P
So, the wait for the grad school app continues. The History Dept does seem to be a bit slower than other departments, but they apparently have a very long review process, where they pass on applications that make it past the first round to professors, and then they go through another 1-2 rounds before the final decision. Damn. It sounds worse than standing up on the runway in front of Nina Garcia when she's likely to tell you that your outfit seriously looks like it was constructed out of muppet hides (to borrow Shar's lovely description for Kelly Clarkson's Grammy dress). So I may be twiddling my thumbs till as late as March 15th to hear back from the department, after having turned in the application on December 13 (two days early, an astonishing feat for me). I'm hoping it gets here before then, though, because we'll be in Australia from the 10th of March to the 25th, which means even more waiting. But at least I'll be waiting down in Oz, so I think I can live with that. Yay for dad for taking a 6-month sabbatical down under! ^_^
I've been amazed of late to discover that I still like anime. It's kind of odd, but I'd basically given up pretty much all things anime (including Inuyasha fic) for the last year. Maybe I'd just OD'd on it, and on all the obsessive cel collecting I'd done over the previous 3 years. But in any case, I've sort of come back to it a little, but not nearly as obsessively as I'd used to be. I suppose this is a good thing, because when I was absorbing my life in anime, I didn't really have much going on in real life that was particularly enjoyable (in a word, depression). So I guess I'm lightening up as I go along, in a lot of things.
So my new favorite anime of the moment is Witch Hunter Robin, which my brother introduced Mike and I to around the Christmas holidays, but we only finished watching last night. Very good series, completely open-ended as far as sequel potential goes. The character development is very good, the overall plot interesting and compelling (although it would have been better if Mike hadn't figured out the major conflict/plot point by episode 3, since it kind of spoiled the surprise there), even though it does start out slowly.
So can anyone tell me if it's really true that we're not going any more Firefly movies because the sales weren't high enough? I'd heard that from around, but I really haven't been doing much of anything online other than checking email from time to time. So I'm rather out of the loop.
In any case, hope everyone on my flist is doing well and had a wonderful holiday season! *hugs*
