Everything Murakami Haruki writes is amazing. I like Soseki, as well.

I think both the Brontes and Austen are utter shit, but I'm (re-) reading them soon as well since they're much-referenced on the GRE Literature exam.

Yeah !! My first H.Murakami was Norwegian Wood. Fell in love with it immediately!! Bronte & Austen are usually either for class assignment or pleasure reading. In my case its more of introduction. I haven't read much classics. So I'm choosing some to start with. Hopefully its good.

Do let me know if any of the other authors you're reading (aside from Steele) are worth a read. And if you want recommendations (particularly Japanese or Chinese authors) after you finish these, let me know! As far as classics go, if you haven't read Don Quixote, you most definitely should. And if you have, what did you think of it?

Hmm...other than Steel. I've read a couple of her books, its my taste. Other than her the classic Sidney Sheldon is nice too. I have quite a collection of his books. Jodi Picoult's good too. Also Sarah Dunant. Love her Mapping The Edge. But the best of all ( for me ) is Time Traveller's Wife & The Thirteenth Tale. Have you read those?

Oh please !!! If you have recommendation on japanese authors please let me know. I'm always in search of good japanese authors. And I haven't read Don Quixote yet. How is it?
