Finished reading The Churn today, a novella set in the Expanse'verse that gives the backstory for Amos Burton.
Disturbing doesn't begin to describe it. And it also kind of explains why there's 5 books before he's a POV character -- he's a hard person to climb into, in part because he is so divorced from his emotions. He's had to be to survive the life he's lead up to his early 20s.
The book did confirm something that the TV series hinted at -- Amos had been a prostitute in his youth.
Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent story, highly recommended, but it's going to haunt you.
