Coach: "It has come to my attention that several of you have permently scarred your bodies by branding yourselves with -- what was it, a salad fork?"

Hastings: "A coat hanger, Mr. Kingmaker, sir!"

Oh Hastings Ruckle, you misplaced boston brahmin with the unfortunate hair -- never change.

Also, you know Coach Stan was behind the magazines.

Ah, fathers and sons, such a driving theme of the show.

I have to admit that my heart was in my throat when Vince started heading to Coach's house, then turned and went to his father -- who was deeply touched. Also, I must say that was one deeply deserved shitkicking beat-down Vince's dad served up to Kennard.

(The scene with Kennard menacing Jess by the dumpster? Shiver.)

Luke and Billy -- was both comedy gold *and* awesome. On the one hand, Billy feels guilty for how he was a haphazard parent to Tim and how Tim fell on his sword for Billy. On the other hand, he really is trying and he really does give a damn, and though telling Luke to call the TMU coach and yell at him wasn't the brightest idea, telling Luke that he needed to put out on the field, give his war cry, ect, was awesome.

Mothers and Daughters --

Mindy giving advice to Becky? Mindy might not be very educated and until quite recently she was something of a hedonist, but she's got a kind of wisdom. You just know that many a night little girl Tyra had Mindy dry her tears, or that for a while there, Tyra always went to Mindy because Mindy always figured out something to do.

Also, I like how the show shows that Mindy's job as a dancer is just that -- a job. It has its ups, it has its downs, and that Mindy's actually pretty good at it, and she's smart enough to know that right now, it's what's going to bring the most money into the house so she'd be silly not to strip while she's able. Mindy (and the other strippers we've met) are neither better nor worse than any of the other characters on the show.

As much as I've hated the Julie storyline, I have to say I like how Tami has handled it. She's sympathetic about how Julie feels shocked and ashamed, but she's right to not let Julie off the hook about taking responsibility and that you can't run away from your mistakes in life.
