Apparently knowledge of geometry is a useful thing in my current job, and I know more about tolerancing than I thought (and way more than the engineer from my supplier).

Still haven't solved my leak issue, but I now have conic sections dancing in my head.

yeah. funny that.

It came up in discussion at First Friday this weekend too.

But I'm reading professional papers and playing with parts that were recently patented and otherwise trying to figure out why what I've got doesn't work, and why the things the last guy to take a stab at this problem came up with haven't worked either.

It's engineering and math and it's good. Almost *squeee* good... if I fix the problem it definitely will be :-)
