Ya know, I never wrote an entry about the two weeks I spent in New York. In a nut shell though, it was awesome. I made many new friends, reunited with some old ones, and got thoroughly trashed many times :D
Marta - Marta is awesome. Thats like the first thing that comes to mind when I think about her. I put her first on this list because out of all people I met when I was home she was definitly the coolest. She's dating Nick, which I think is a blessing in disguise. Now I don't need to worry about anything but being friends with her, and thats great. She's as passionate about photography as I am, she has a wonderfully sarcastic sense of humor, she very sure of herself, and to top it all off...she has the hottest 33 year old mother of two (second child born nine weeks ago) sister on the planet :D
(An)Drew - Drew is an alcoholic. Drew is 22 years old and works with Patrick at starbucks. He loves to play Rock Band, but only singing and the drums. Which works out fine for me since I'm a guitar guy. He seems to be Patrick's best friend @ his work. We got along fairly well, though, without bragging, by the end I believe he was percieving me as somewhat of a threat to a girl he was trying to sleep with lol (she did find me "fascinating and fun to talk to" :P. After trying to drink me under the table at Chris's little shin-dig (and failing, I might add) Drew decided to drive from Rowe Ave. in Lynbrook all the way to Malverne with QUITE a large amount of alcohol in his system. He's an idiot in that sense, but otherwise a good guy.
Karen - Karen is scary. She used to work at Starbucks but now she just hangs around with the group. She's scary because she does Roller Derby, which until two weeks ago I didn't even realize was a sport anymore. She hates when because bash women, and she almost made Patrick cry (figuratively) when he feigned hitting on her, but other than that she's pretty fun.
Ian - Ian is cool. Ian is a slightly overweight guy who, like most people I met when I was home, works with Patrick at Starbucks. He's kind of like what I'd imagine I would be like if I never joined the Army. He likes video games, makes crude jokes, and lives in Long Beach. Like I said, he's cool.
Alison - Ali Robb is groovy :D. Like a few other people I'll be mentioning I've known her since grade school. We only spoke at Chris's Party (see further), but it was still really great to see her. I convinced her that having a guy tell you what to do and never listening to you in a relationship is horrible (she's only been with one guy so far :( ) and that she needs to stand up for herself. She actually told him off (Anthony Orefice...blah) later on in the evening. I hate when guys take such horrible advantage of women. I know I'm guilty of not being the nicest person ever, but I have NEVER demeaned or abused (physically or otherwise) a girl I've been with. Hopefully she's see the light eventually.
Christine - Christine and I didn't have a very pleasent vacation together. She's a bitch, and I've known this since we first became friends back in 12th grade. I tried to get along with her, but she burned that bridge the night we went bowling. We were going out to 10 cent wings at a bar called Croxleys. It was going to be Nick, Marta, Patrick, and I. Christine couldn't come because she's only 20...and because of this she threw a little bitch fit. Since we did feel a little bad we offered to take her bowling first, and she said sure. When we got there I paid for the four of us and we went to our lane; after 5 frames of barely trying though, Daley just up and quit. We had to skip her for the rest of that game and the entire next game. She has no problem going somewhere or doing something and leaving others out, but if she's left out of something she's always like this. After that Nick and I decided enough was enough. For the next 8-9 days I was home we didn't speak, and I still havn't spoken to her. Like Nick said, why let one little girl ruin a night or an entire vacation? ...I could go on about this chick forever, but I'll just leave it here.
Chris - I've known Chris Viemiester since way back in elementary school. The first night I was home I went with him, nick, patrick, and Daley + BF to see Bat Man. Even though we'd barely talked in the year since I'd been home it was like we were still awesome friends. Thats what I really like about him, he's not like some people who pretend they're glad to see you but are just putting on a front; he was actually happy to see me. The next weekend Chris hosted a party at his aunt's house (he was house sitting). Anthony Orefice (Someone I truely loathe) was technically throwing the party with the booze and invites, but it was still chris's house so we came. He really wanted people he knew he could trust there so we said sure. I drank sooooooo much that night it was awesome. I spoke with a lot of old friends from high school. It was amazing how some had changed a lot, and others not really at all. I was glad I got to see and share a toast with Steve Fusswinkel there, even though we're at different ends of the spectrum, we're still both brothers in arms. In the end the party ended up with 95% of the 21 year olds (Nick, Patrick, Michelle, Stern (one year younger), Chris, Drew, this girl Anngel (who was really fascinating actually) and Fuss) sitting outside in a circle of chairs with all the 18-20 year old idiots inside playing beer pong and the like. We spent like 2 hours drinking casually (well...all except me...I took shots with anyone and everyone lol) and just having a grand old time.
Kaylah - Kaylah was a bit of a late edition to my leave. She's a girl who works at Starbucks with Patrick (shocking, I know). I met her at Connelly's the Monday after I came home when Drew was guest bartending there. What started as idle chit chat at the bar ended up in a lovely conversation that started inside at 10 pm and ended outside on the pateo at about 3 AM. We had agreed that she would allow me to take her on a date later that week, and I was thrilled. In the following days I'll write a full description of our date, since it really does deserve it's own entry. We saw eachother a few more times after that before I had to leave, and this girl is awesome :D. I'm so sad I live so far away from her, because I finally found someone I can almost call my equal. She's smart, sarcastic, pretty, open, honest, and perverted...you really can't ask for anything more. We're texting and talking a lot still...but I don't know how long it can last. I will try my best to keep it going though.
Nick - What is there to say about Nick. He is by far my oldest friend. We had a couple rough times over the years, but ever since senior year of high school we have had a friendship like no other. If there was one person in this world not related to me I'd have share something vital with, it would be him. He was with me every night I went out while I was home, and I really had soooo much fun with him. If I could only pick one friend I have right now to keep and the rest leaving me, he would be the one. Thank you Nick, you played a huge part in making sure I had one of the greatest two weeks of my life.
My Dad - My Dad is like the best dad in the world. He paid for me to fly home, made me some of the greatest food ever, and even bought my brother and I a round of drinks at his favorite bar. I'm really luck to have a father that cares so much about me. Especially with my mom being such a whore, it's good to know I always have my dad to turn to no matter what the circumstance.
Patrick - Last but not least my wonderous brother. It would be a horrible underexagerration to say that he and I have had a bumpy past. In the last few years however, he and I have grown really close, and this trip home definitely showed this to be true. He drove almost every day with minimal complaining, and zero complaining once we dumped daily. In return I paid for 90% of the activities we went to. He's kinda funny though. He's thin as a rail (unhealthy almost IMO), so he gets trashed so easy. He also likes to pound his beer...like really REALLY fast. So he'll order a beer, chug it, order another, chug that, and then be buzzed 15 minutes later lol. After two beers he's usually good for the night though...he's a strange one ;-). I have to give him credit, he carted my ass all the way back to Long Beach at 4AM (or later some days) almost every night. That was really nice of him. He was trying to court this girl named Beth from his job, but it was painfully obvious she wasn't interested after I observed for a few days. I feel bad for him, he has such high standards but little to no expierience, so the odds are definitly against him. One day hopefully he'll find happiness.
Some people I don't want to forget about when I read this journal 10 years from now are:
Ashley - A wall
Anngel - Cinderella
Beth - Vermont
Kristen - SOOOO Blonde
Alex - Slut
Fuss - Seemen
One thing (well, one of many things) I forgot to mention was the beach. Three of four nights after the bar we went back to my dad's house, got some beach chairs, and walked down to the beach. It was like 3-4 AM every time so we knew there would be no one there. We just sat there talking, smoking a few cloves, and just relaxing. It was really really pleasent, and one of those things you don't realize you miss until you live 500 miles from the nearest coastline.
My fondest memory of my trip was the last evening I was home. Patrick, Nick and I were at Connely's outside at the tables. It was only 11 so no one else had arrived yet. The three of us sat there with our beers in our hand, and toasted "To 16 years of friendship, let there be many more". Although I would never in a million years admit this in public, I love both of them.
I'm not quite sure anything could have topped this vacation. It was pretty much my entire summer crammed into two weeks, and it was amazing. I can only pray next year will be just as fulfilling
