They call me Slim Kizzle - I'm back

Hello everybody! Yeah yeah, I know. I haven't updated in forever. What you have to realize is that it's a good thing that I haven't. Because I only usually post when I have something that has aggrevated me so much, that I just have to vent about it. So since I've been so quiet, I guess that means that everything is right in the world! Actually, I've just been really busy and or lazy lately. Mostly lazy. So I figured I'd cram in as much stuff as humanly possible into this post as to my thoughts on various things lately. Here goes:

Movies

Corpse Bride: Excellent movie. Not nearly as good as Nightmare Before Christmas, but the animation is much smoother and better looking. The songs aren't as catchy either. But if you liked NBC, definitely check it out. 4 out of 5 Kirks

Serenity: If you watched Firefly at all either on Fox, Sci-Fi Channel, or on DVD, and enjoyed it, this is a no-brainer. Go see it right now. It'll rock your socks off. If you've never seen Firefly, and are interestes in seeing a really clever, funny, interesting sci-fi world, you will enjoy it as well. Sure if you've seen the show you'll have all the background knowledge. But I think folks that have never seen Firefly could enjoy the movie anyway. 4 out of 5 Kirks

The Exorcism of Emily Rose: Don't let the previews fool you! This isn't a huge exorcismfest of a movie. The majority of the movie is more focused on the courtroom aspect of the movie, with the exorcism bits shown as flashbacks. But those bits are pretty awesome, and the courtroom stuff is pretty interesting as well. It's pretty much like Law & Order: Possessed Girl Unit. Very cool, creepy movie. 4 out of 5 Kirks

The 40 Year-Old Virgin: This is by far one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I think I had a smile on my face the entire time. Steve Correll has that Will Ferell quality of just standing there and being hilarious, at least in my opinion. Saw it twice, just as funny both times. Great movie. 5 out of 5 Kirks

Television

Lost: OK, consider me part of the hype wagon. This show is incredible. And the creators are very very smart. Because even if you watch an episode and hate it, you are compelled to keep watching next week, because each episode is a tease, and you would have wasted an hour of your life if you never find out what happens. So you have to watch every week. It's like nicotine, or gasoline, or candy corn...something you just have to have no matter how bad it is for you. You love the show and hate the show at the same time. But luckily, I love it. I love the secrets, the hidden numbers and clues, everything. Great show!

Family Guy: Like a fine wine, gets better with age.

The Andy Milonakis Show: I seriously hope this kid gets leprosy and dies. The few times I've tried to give this show a chance, I just get infuriated that he has his own show, and people give him money to do it. It is the most unfunny shit I have ever seen. And I'm all about silly random humor. But I just don't understand why people like him. And now I see he is in the new movie Waiting, which has one of my favorite comics Dane Cook as well. Which means I have to weigh my love for Dane Cook against my white hot searing hatred of Andy Milonakis to decide whether or not to see it. We shall see.

Music

Ambulance Ltd.: My friend Jill from work turned me on to this band, and I picked up their self titled album. It is the best album I have heard in a long time. I can listen to the whole thing, straight through, no skipping around. That is my criteria for a great album. Highly recommended!

Franz Ferdinand: I ummm....borrowed...some of the tracks from the new album, and it is more great stuff from Franz Ferdinand. Definitely gonna pick up the album tomorrow. If you loved the first, grab that shit!

Disturbed: I've always been on the fence with Disturbed, but I liked the packaging of the new album,a nd I'm a sucker for packaging, so I picked it up. It's a pretty good album, but the best part is the fact that they cover the Genesis classic "Land of Cunfusion", and do a great job with it. Worth the price of admission.

Miscellaneous

-I think that the fact that the fat kid from Stand By Me is marrying Rebecca Romijn will give hope to fat kids everywhere that there is still hope for them

-Man, as if letting a kid drown, hitting a little girl on her bike, forgetting to hang out with your brother, and wasting your life in the basement wasn't enough to keep you off drugs, now you're forgetting dinner with Grandma. Yeah, I'm sure that will stop someone from trying pot. Assholes

-Sean Preston Federline. I'm so so sorry.

-So my local daily paper's comic section held a vote. They had a test comic that they published for a few months that, if voted positively, would replace Marmaduke. The comic was called "Bliss" And it was pretty good. I mean, it was no Far Side, or Calvin and Hobbes (which is coming out with a complete collection box set this month, hooyah), but it was leagues better than the usual daily comic fare. And they voted for Marmaduke. MARMADUKE!!!!! Who the hell likes Marmaduke??? A 5 year old could write Marmaduke. Every friggin day it's the same thing: "That Marmaduke, he's always getting into everything." "That Marmaduke, look at him trying to fit in a space he is far to big for." "That Marmaduke, he's so big he knocked that guy down when he jumped on him." Christ on a cracker people. God forbid you have to look at a comic and think creatively for 2 nanoseconds. Now if they came out with a comic that had Marmaduke getting rabies and mauling all the Family Circus kids, I would frame it.

-So Tyra Banks had devoted an entire episode of her new "talk" show, to dispel the rumor that she has breast implants. First of all, who cares? And second of all, Tyra Banks has a talk show? I must have been sick the day they were giving them out.

-I need a new slogan to use when I'm complaining about the state of society. I used to use "We need another flood", but people started blaming me for the misfortune in the Gulf Coast. So if you have any suggestions, pass them along.

-So Jennifer Love Hewitt's new show "Ghost Whisperer" got excellent ratings in it's debut. I just have one thing to say. We need another flo...hmmmm. Get those suggestions in quick!

-So I saw a commercial for a prescription sleeping pill whose name escapes me at the moment. And it was one of those things where they list the side effects at the end. Well, one of the side effects were "Drowsiness". And it was a sleeping pill. Am I missing something?

That's it for now people. I hope my prolonged absence hasn't made you lose interest. I'm gonna try my hardest to update more regularly. Thanks for listening
