1. I cannot believe Heath Ledger is dead. I find that I am way more upset by it than the average person... and way more upset than my pop culture-obsessed friends. It is sad. I've been anticipating his rendition of the Joker for 2 or 3 years now, since I first heard that he was playing the role... and now I'm sad to see it. I'll still see it, of course.
2. Cloverfield sucked.*
I didn't even really want to see the movie, but my friend Mike convinced my friend Carrie and I to go. The three of us all like LOST, and Cloversuck was made by the same guy who created LOST--J.J. Abrams. First of all, the people involved in the making of the movie should have taken a note from the Blair With Project... movies filmed in this manner make people want to vomit. Really. So take advice from me: Do not down a frozen cherry coke during the previews because it will try to make its way back up during the entire film. I still feel as though a vom sesh could happen at any moment. Also, they should have not ripped off BWP by having a character say, "I'm so scared." Be a little more original... like "I'm freaking out" or something like that. The cheese-factor was mighty high, but was probably the reason I liked the movie at all. It did indeed make me laugh on several occasions. It was poorly written. I don't think anyone after seeing the most ferocious monster and the most tragic incidents could answer someone's question--"What is that thing?"--with "Something terrible." I mean, I really could go on and on. The characters... or some of them should have died two or three times over, but that's how it goes in movies. Ok. Well it wasn't the worst movie I've ever paid to see, but I am disappointed that I forgot to get my student discount.
*This is coming from a girl who liked the movie Anaconda, so who am I to really judge? In my defense, I think I only like Anaconda because no one else liked it and because it too made me laugh.
I had to get those few things off my chest.
If anyone actually reads this, and like me, check out my Web site/semi-profesh blog:
jessekakadylak.com. It is supposed to be a music blog and a place to have my clips and resume... but so far it is a poorly updated music blog. But it wouldn't hurt to check it out. =)
Lastly, tomorrow, January 23, 2008, marks 1 year since I donated my hair. WOW.
