Harvey appears to have no secrets.
David appears to have nothing but...
These two represent the initial light-and-dark of the show.
David raises all the questions.
Is this real?
Is this a joke?
Harvey is everybody else's liason to David's expanding private
world. He's their leader in times of great strangeness.
David becomes like a sort of cult leader or false messiah.
The weak-minded are brought into his circle. Harvey and the
others think it's just a part of David's joke... going way too
far.
=====
A suburban house occupied by a group of roommates
Stoners, drifting into a world of dangerous drugs
Question rises -- Are we not taking this seriously enough?
Concern rises for the mental state of their friend David
A joke going way too far...
David's enchantments raise other questions...
Are there strange things out in the woods, conspiring against us?
Scooby-doo type explorations
There truly seems to be a dark world conspiring there...
But maybe it is just a joke...
David is an extremely powerful man by this point.
The leader of a corporation... It's still a joke to him...

STORIES:
-- David wins a fortune in Las Vegas after leading everyone there
on his crazy trip about the Luxor Hotel and the pyramids.
-- Love interest - The girl entangled in David's web... Harvey
and David both vie for her affections.
David's love is questionable... Maybe bisexual...
PROGRESSION:
The legend is born... David's trip starts out small.
Though Harvey has his moments of doubt, at first he enjoy David's
trip, through-and-through. He is actually excited to investigate
the strange world uncovered by David's musings when things start
to seem really real.
The myth grows bigger and bigger.
They are forced to deal with forces of darkness from a world
beyond their own.
The ideas that might be delusions cause FRIEND A to murder FRIEND
B on accident. So certain that David was right until this tragic
thing happens.
David's coldness regarding the tragic events causes him to lose
some esteem from his friends. BUT THEY'RE ALL ADDICTED TO DRUGS!
The joke isn't funny anymore.
But they continue riding it anyway... They find ways to
rationalize the event in delusional terms.
The fantasy world actually helps them out of real life
situations...
-- An exchange with a drug dealer getting out of hand... What if
we feed them to the lions?
-- David plays matchmaker, manipulating people, etc...
-- Friends become famous, wealthy, successful because of David's
influence.
Bad trip...
It becomes horribly clear that David actually is joking, perhaps
has been all along. The joke reaches a higher scale. David
becomes like a messiahcal figure, rallying followers like sheep.
David's trip grows bigger and bigger until everyone in the whole
world is riding on it... believing him... trusting him...
By this point, the original circle has turned against him. They
rally to end his reign of confusion. Vigilantes.
Though plagued by the possibility that he might be right, they
are certain that he wouldn't be above this kind of thing... David
is not an altruistic person. David is not conscientious or
interested in saving people. Of this, they are certain.
"The whole world is out there living their lives as though
nothing was wrong. They're sheep out there but we're special. We
know the truth."
"Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth."
A resolve... David, a weak man...
When his heart is opened, David confesses the truth...
DAVID:
I don't know why I do the things I do. When my parents died, I
didn't know how to take it. My dad was crazy. Killed my mom, then
himself. I found them both, like that... I couldn't accept it. I
couldn't handle it. I couldn't handle the truth, Harvey. I can't
believe it still. I can't believe it. I need to think there's
another reason.
Something went wrong in Dad's mind. I can't believe that there
was just a switch in my Dad's mind... something flicked it and he
decided to kill my mom. She was crazy too though. She probably
provoked him somehow.
I can't believe that he was just insane. He actually believed
that doing this was the right thing to do. He believed that.
I can manipulate people. I can make them believe whatever I want.
I can make something true one day, then fix it the next. There
are people whose minds I control completely.

CHARACTERS
conspiracy theorist, strategist, gonzo journalist, intelligent
man with a zeal for drugs.
A curious way to rationalize events... When a less-than beloved
friend murders the pizza guy, this guy decides the best course of
action is to kill the guy and hide both bodies. He does it
intelligently and actually manages to get away with it.
Thinks both David and Harvey are hilarious, though I think he's
more skeptical than others about believing the whole thing.

KOIOS
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Greek Mythology
Other Scripts: Κοιος (Ancient Greek)
Possibly derived from Greek κοιος (koios), also spelled ποιος
(poios), a questioning word meaning approximately "of what
kind?". This was the name of a Titan god of intelligence in Greek
mythology.
LAURENCE (1)
Gender: Masculine
Usage: English
Pronounced: LAWR-ənts [key]
From the Roman cognomen Laurentius, which meant "from Laurentum".
Laurentum was a city in ancient Italy, its name probably deriving
from Latin laurus "laurel". Saint Laurence was a 3rd-century
deacon and martyr from Rome. According to tradition he was
roasted alive on a gridiron because, when ordered to hand over
the church's treasures, he presented the sick and poor. Due to
the saint's popularity, the name came into general use in the
Christian world (in various spellings).
In the Middle Ages this name was common in England, partly
because of a second saint by this name, a 7th-century Archbishop
of Canterbury. Likewise it has been common in Ireland due to the
12th-century Saint Laurence O'Toole (whose real name was Lorcán).
Since the 19th century the spelling Lawrence has been more
common, especially in America.
DYLAN
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Welsh, English, Welsh Mythology
Pronounced: DUL-an (Welsh), DIL-ən (English) [key]
From the Welsh elements dy "great" and llanw "tide, flow". In
Welsh mythology Dylan was a god of the sea, the son of Aranrhod.
He was accidentally slain by his uncle Govannon.
Famous bearers include the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas (1914-1953)
and the American musician Bob Dylan (1941-), real name Robert
Zimmerman, who took his stage surname from the poet's given name.
Due to those two bearers, use of the name has spread outside of
Wales in the last half of the 20th century. It received a further
boost in popularity in the 1990s due to a character on the
television series 'Beverly Hills 90210'.
