On Thursday while unpacking the Summitt books (slower towards the end of the shift) I came across a funny looking book. The book looks like it' s been part of the library for a time; it has a well worn red cloth cover; its title, in gold print letters, is Efficient Living.
According to Edward Earle Perinton, "Efficiency is the power of doing one's most and best, in the shortest time and easiest way, to the satisfaction of all concerned."
I borrowed it on a whim and popped it open tonight.
Pop-Motivation circa 1915.
Edward goes on and on about Efficiency: with Food and Hygiene, in Thought and Play... for four hundred pages.
In sharp contrast I spent most of this Saturday sleeping in bed.
At the 10-hour mark I woke up, made & ate some breakfast (with Alex and Aroon), and also read the news.
Soon thereafter I went back to sleep for another 8 hours.
Now the digits tell me that's 18 hours of sleep.
I'd say it's a thoroughly efficient way to start Fall break...
Glorious, glorius Fall break.
