Summer is officially here. I just saw my first lightning bug. :)
It's carnival week!!! Sometimes, my nerdiness astounds me. Every year since I was in about 6th grade, Tiltonsville has had a carnival. When I was in middle school this was the do-all end-all event of the social season. Why, you ask...because it's in front of my house. That's why. So when I was younger, I could ride all night without having my parents waiting for me at the end of the line. I could play games and run all over town. Plus my house was the place to be. Parties all the time.
As the years go by the carnival is slowly losing it's wonder. I'm still wildly in love with carnies. (nomads ya know...small hands...smell a bit like cabbage). But it's sad now. I'm too old for rides and silly games. When I buy cotton candy I don't think of how good it tastes; I think about how crusty the people are that made it. But I'm still clinging to carnivals past where everything seemed so magical.
The trucks should start pulling in sometime tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait. Anyone in the valley who feels the need for some carnival fun, stop on by. You know where to find me.
