Welcome to the Australian Way of Life

I'm in Australia!!! I arrived on Friday afternoon and promptly tried to pass out, but Mandi wouldn't let me. So we hung out and caught up on all the details of each other's lives from the past two years. Then Saturday we spent the afternoon shopping. I didn't spend too much money, which is sad, but hopefully I'll get caught up on my shopping this week. Then Saturday night, Mandi, Mike and I went to an Afghan restaurant. It was different. I didn't really like the food, but it was a cool place and I can now say that I tried Afghan food. Sunday was spent walking around downtown Melbourne. Mandi and I went to her Uni for a little visit. The University of Melbourne is so huge! I can't imagine going from tiny little Hiram College to Melbourne Uni. I don't think I could do it. I would be lost for weeks. Then after our visit to Uni we did a little more shopping and hit up Federation Square which houses a large collection of Aboriginal Art. So that was really cool.

Monday I traveled to Adelaide, which is where I am now. The flight was pretty turbulent, so I was feeling sickly most of yesterday and couldn't really do anything. Jason is super busy right now. At the moment he's at work at the radio station (NOVA 91.9), so I'm left waiting for his roommate to wake up from his druken stupor. Hopefully he'll want to play with me and not pass out on the floor. Who knows what I'll get myself into today. I'm thinking that today will be a day of rest and relaxation. I'm in the middle of The Da Vinci Code, so maybe I can sit out in the sunshine, get a little tan and finish my book today. Then tommorrow I'm going shopping downtown and tomorrow night Jason's band is performing at a club in the city...I think. So that's what I'm doing the next couple of days.

Things are really great here in Australia. Things with Jason are....different. There's definitely tension between us, but I don't really know why. I can't figure out if it's the good kind of tension, or if both of us are a little freaked out by the other. Of course he spent most of yesterday at work and came home to a party and got pissy. And I spent most of the day in bed feeling pretty poorly. So we'll see how things go when he gets home tonight.

For now, I'm off to sit outside and enjoy the day.
