I AM At the school and Regan is being soo helpful and friendly, out of her way! `She
invited me to the
welcome party on Tuesday night, i hope I can get in to town! i can then meet the WU
studnets. i am
freezing in the computer lab. i had a cappicino this mo r n ing. i don't know if US Air
has the addess
out in the country or via il prato (florence). i have only one pair of socks, pants, shoes
but a few shirts
and undies. my immediate toiletries and computer are with me. i woke in the middle of the
night
freezing and went to the bathroom and saw a mouse in my room. healthy looking little
thing, almost
cute. it was cold, but apparently therese another blanket around. the space is big enough
so i can make
studio space. theere are two windows. my space is very rectanglar, with kitechenette
(leaky faucet) and
fireplace. the bed is a makeshift cot with a `thin thin hard matress. once i learn how to
get to and from
the city and get my bags, i think i will feel a lot better. the kid is a true brat though.
the girl is shy at
first. thre mother is fat, very un florentine, and the father is older, crippled, but can
get around holding
things. i haven';t given the kids thier presents yet but i hope they will help. the
airline number should
be open soon. the family gave me a cell phone. for emergencies, you can call 334.1516620.
i think
0039 as a country code bit. the shops seem to be closed today but monday i have to get an
international drivers liscence and LEARN TO DRIVE SHICK, they forgot to tell me those
important
details!! its a rocky dirt road up and down to their house and one lane wide two lane
streets. they must
think its easy easy easy. looking forward to getting settled, bit quite worried about
getting the bags and
getting along with the mother. in the cafe today, around 10 am, a man ordered a glass of
wine. while he
turned around to look at a newspaper, the barista hid it and replaced the glass on the
counter with an
empty one. the man saw it, said something, and the barista returned the full glass of wine
to him. the
barista smiled at me like it had been our joke but i was a bit nervous not being able to
say anything. the
polish people, three of them, who work at the pucci's house seem nice, but quiet, i assume
because
they can't speak italian well and sra. pucci (benedette) yells at them. i think maria
novella will be
amazing once she likes me / "i prove myself to her," which ,the father explained, i must
do. "my
children are very florentine," he said, "they like to see the human spriti full of
frustration" or something
before opening up and trusting. okkkk/ later....
