When life gets busy I clearly stop updating. The highlights!
- The cats and I have settled into our new temporary abode and it is working out well. They get roaming time when the dog is outside, and otherwise are content to chill in my room. I have to share a bathroom, but our work schedules are different enough that it hasn't been an issue. I'm also waiting for the card in the mail telling me the courts have finished processing the divorce. My work is done, but it'd be nice to have it all official.
- House searching is happening but so far no winners. There was an almost-right-house, but a night to sleep on it convinced me to let it go. I'm just waiting for what I want to show up, and really? with DragonCon in 3 weeks starting any major purchase would be ill timed.
- DragonCon in 3 weeks!!! Prep for this has been in full swing for sometime now, and project lists are getting more detailed as we're coming down to the wire. My costumes are all nearly done (with some key pieces still in the wind but started), and I've been drafted to assist with the big Totoro and in 's finishing stuff since she's been lead on making so many things for other people. I think I'm officially a sewing apprentice. I can finish things if they've been set up for me, and do grunt work like cutting patterns and seaming giant fur totoros, and finishing hemmed corners. I haven't looked at the panels schedule yet but between all my fandom loves I already know there will be hard choices to make. There will be Ian. Oh yes. There will be Ian.
- No tv... I *haven't* had any Olympic exposure which I am sad about, but I will be catching the 4am broadcast of the dressage freestyle this week. I'm also not up to date on any of my lovely summer shows like SYTYCD or White Collar. When I'm in my own place I'll totally have to do a big catch up. And! if by late fall I'm *still* not in my own place I've already told my friend E that I'll be coming to her house for TVD. I have options. Watching tv online just doesn't suit me aparently. The things you learn. However! I have mastered the basic levels of Netflix through the xbox to the projector. I can be taught.
- I'm writing! Eeep!!! I signed up for a challenge with a due date of BDC (Before DragonCon). This may not have been my smartest move, but I'm making it happen. Damon/Alaric/Jenna if I can keep it going. It's for the
Day In the life of Alaric Saltzmanchallenge. How could I resist? I couldn't.
saltwriting has very kindly been helping motivate me along, and I think I'll have a section of my story ready in time for the challenge, with more story planned. I like having a story to write again.
So that's the news with me. How are you?
