My 16 year old high school sister just Facebooked me. What's next, all my students? Thanks Facebook guy, thanks. Maybe this is a sign that I am too grown up for various and sundry internet doings.

Kacie and Liz, this is for you both. I wrote to them, complained, and requested that they give you an option to blanket block all high schoolers from seeing you in searches or adding you. I dunno, this is a privacy issue that really bugs me, even though it doesn't affect me at all.

Anyways, they sent me this form letter, but I feel like it also blocks people from other colleges though:

Hey,

Thanks for the suggestion. We will keep this in mind as
we continue to refine our privacy options. For now,
remember to use the My Privacy page to control the people
who can find you in searches. If you want, you can make
it so that only friends or friends of friends can search
for you. It is also possible to block specific people by
using the 'Blocking People' tool at the bottom of the My
Privacy page. Finally, we have added a 'Limited Profile'
feature which allows you to limit the profile information
that you make visible to selected people.

Don't forget that the only people who can see your profile
are those who are your friends, go to school with you, or
have been contacted by you. Ultimately, you have total
control over establishing the network of people that can
find you, interact with you, and view your information.

Thanks for using Facebook!
