ugh

Today's not been an easy day. Last night they did another CT scan w/ contrast because his WBC is still rising - over 45k today. The results of the scan are that the massive psuedocyst they already knew about has gotten bigger. They're really concerned about this mass, so I signed the release for them to tap it. They plan to take some fluid from it - if it looks like it's infected right then, they'll drain it completely, if it doesn't look infected they'll send it off to the lab for analysis and culture.

All this week when he's gotten dialysis his blood pressure would drop and they'd pump him with the NEO, and it'd come back up and they could stop the NEO and it would stay up. Last night when they attempted to stop the NEO it dropped again, so they've had him on the NEO all day and any attempts to stop the NEO resulted in drop of BP. They're very concerned about this instability in his blood pressure. They also gave him a unit of blood thinking that maybe the added volume would bring up and stabilize his BP. They're consulting to possibly put him on the 24hr dialysis machine because that method is less stressful on his system. Currently when they do dialysis they are attempting to filter all of his blood in 2 hours, thus displacing a large amount of blood in a short period of time. The 24 hour dialysis machine, or continuous dialysis machine, does the filtration continuously and is found to be less stressful and more effective in cases like his where the patient is having BP instability issues w/ the 2 hour method. They had to increase his oxygen to 65%.

God...when is this shit going to end!?! I'm fighting a nasty bastard of a depression, I've got a fucking cold, I'm sick and goddamned tired of the fucking hospital. AAARRGGGHHHH. ok....sorry....

Hopefully the tap tomorrow will result in more actionable news and we can start working towards some kind of resolution...this wait is killing me.
