as you know from our major rant yesterday, i agree with everything you have said here.
the only thing i have to add is that i am terrified by the fact that teenagers are revealing they understand the concept of consent even less than i realised. i mean "she smiled, so it was ok"???
i wish i could say that these boys are an anomaly- and perhaps they present the worst end of the spectrum- but the fact is that this culture of "boys will be boys" contains the hidden premise that "girls will be exploited".

Boys aren't being taught that to be a man you have to accept and follow certain beliefs that relate to respecting others, especially women. It has nothing to do with religious morality or following some strict moral code. It has everything to do with the fact that boys don't know how to be masculine without being perverse. They're stuck between being too effeminate or too macho. Society at present isn't very good at producing well-adjusted discerning individuals.

Alas, any decent male has to worry about the constant stigma these sick turds create and as a result we end up with legions of women who hate men or can never fully trust them. Bah! must stop now or i'll write a bloody essay...
