Recently, I have been pondering many things, and as you may have read, one of these things is... Writing.
I've been looking for work this summer somewhat... Well, without making a huge effort to find a job at all costs. Consequently, I haven't found a job at all, meaning that, of late, I have been doing the Phoenician equivalent of 'nothing' (that is, 'nothing'). I've decided it's time for a change.
Last night I took out my ol' novel attempt and read through a bit of it to refresh my memory of it, and then I began to write on it. I wrote a chapter in one sitting - something I haven't done for... A year or so, likely. This struck me as a good thing, and I decided (somewhat before I did the writing, and somewhat afterward) that, since I'm unemployed anyway, this is the perfect opportunity for me to fill my days with writing. I haven't so far because it seems like such a chore, but I must needs get over that at some point, so it may as well be now.
Thus I have determined to make this summer one of writing. Also one of listening to Ayreon and and Muse, cause those are both very good bands and well worth listening to.
Surprisingly enough, without my having told my mom of this decision, she reminded me of a CD we had of a conference - which had as one of its talks something about getting published. We listened to it whilst puttering around (by which I mean, she was cleaning things and being industrious, and I was spinning my chair around...)
So I think it's a sign! Or maybe just really good timing.
In the talk on the CD (hehe), the girl (her site is...
http://www.rachelstarrthomson.com/) was talking about marketing yourself and whatnot, and how blogging is a good way to do that - but it needs to be a sort of professional blog. So I was thinking I might potentially start a new blog to talk about writing and whatnot specifically, and use this one for personal stuff only - I'm not sure about that, though.
I'm also thinking of trying for positions in the writing community - maybe start editing for people and whatnot, as I think I'd be decently good at that... I dunno. Something to make some cash and also to get experience 'in the field'. We'll see? We'll see.
