I'm going to the ball ^_^

A painting in a museum hears more ridiculous opinions than anything else in the world.

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not 'Eureka!' (I found it!) but 'That's funny ...'
- Isaac Asimov

I've got the date (I invited a guy in my ward who's fun and likes to dance - and I invited his brother, who's also fun and likes to dance, to be Isaura's date; this is convenient because I was having trouble deciding which of them to choose, and now I'll get to dance with both of them!), I've got the shoes (these are in the mail from Zappos.com), and I've got the dress (the blue "Ever After" one I made for the Masquerade two years ago). :D

You may recall that I had to pin it in certain places, and it wasn't super-comfortable..? Well, last night I took it to a girl who tailors my brother's clothes for him, and experienced my fitting session. (Also, it turns out that she was in my Japanese 102 class, our first semester at BYU! Like, 9 years ago!) And she studied HFL and worked for a bridal shop for a few years, so she knows what she's doing!!

She's going to take in the back (and redo the zipper), take it in at the shoulders (evidently my shoulders slope more than the pattern's), move the sleeves further into the front of the bodice (more shoulder room, and better aesthetically), and gather the gap in the front, then reattach the trip to cover it up, then replace the triangle insert. It's going to be better fitting, be more comfortable, and more modest! (Thank heavens it was too *big* and not too small..) I'm especially excited because without these alterations, I would never be able to really wear the dress, and it cost me hours and hours to make, plus at least $200 in fabric. Yay for not being a waste!!

I want to line my mask so it's more comfortable, and I need to figure out what to do with my hair, but it's going to be a lot of fun! I hope we go to IHOP or somewhere after the dance, because dressing up and going to non-dressy places is fun!
