After working on my costume for approximately 14 hours today:
(And yes, the alternating colors are mirrored from the real Queen of Hearts. It was an accident, but I didn't think it was important enough to fix.)
Neither of these pieces is 100% done, though.. The underskirt needs a button and button hole, and needs hemming (but I'm about out of yellow thread, so I have to get more tomorrow). The top will have an overskirt (open at the front) attached, and there are some "finishing" issues that will need to be fixed. It closes with a line of hooks and eyes that's attached to a collar/facing piece, and I need to tack it down so that it actually stays when I try to close it. Also it will need buttons, but I'll save that for last-ish.
Anyway, the underskirt and the sleeves were all done today, and I'm quite pleased. Especially since I started ignoring the directions when I got to the skirt waistband and didn't like the way the instructions said to do it. So I did my own, and it's awesome. But ingenuity takes time (that stupid stripey part took me forever to figure out), and I'm fast running out.
Also, as a note, I went through five cartoon movies and a few episodes of TV shows while working (unghh). "Dollhouse" and "Stargate Universe" were decent sewing companions, but the pilot of "Royal Pains" was a bad idea; I ended up watching more than sewing. Next time I'll stick with something I'm more familiar with and therefore don't need eyes to follow.
