nook, nook, nookie! Mine!

Christmas and birthday present finally arrived and I am in lurve. I'm pretty confident that the demise of printed tome is not eminent, but if I can do my part to save just one logger from a tree spike or an earlier logging company's left behind cable, I will have done my part for society.

The nook won out as my choice of reading device due the higher base memory and the fancy lending function that is not available to Kindle or eReader. Don't actually know anyone who has a nook yet, but once I do, I can swap with them, and that's important, right?

Read 3 books, two of which had not been read previously, since it's arrival on Saturday. Between a stupid number of excuses, I've slowed down on my natural reading rate. It is my hope that not needing to carry around and swap out different books will help rectify this. Also, the ability to reach out through the 3G network when I'm ready for a new book is very sweet. Though I have to be more careful. I read a review of 36 Argument for the Existence of God that looked interesting, but is only out in hard back. This some how translates to a larger than I would like price tag on the electronic version.

So, I've just finished Pride and Prejudice, which was one of three classics they give you with the reader. I wanted to have the original read (finally) before picking up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which has now been started.

Still need to test it's actual handling of PDF, which it should support. All in all, very pleased.

Oh, and 36 Arguments? Actually a fun read. There is a growing body of what I would call academic science fiction, Connie Willis' Bellwether and Passages being good examples of what I'm talking about. 36 Arguments fits into this grouping, with he academic sciences in question being Psychology and Religion. I thought of you, Jack, when I read the review and, while I'm not actually certain what you read when you read fiction it certainly touched on many of the subjects we have discussed over much alcohol on swings.

So, anyone else out there succumbed to the latest tech?
