For those of you who think I have [insert way of death or disappearance] recently, I haven't. I realize I haven't made a post since Christmas and no real post about my life in months. So, I'll give the general overview here. You can just read the LJ cut titles for the very brief version. lol

I moved into McConnell room 303A. Russell is my roommate this year, so I'm glad to have someone who I already know I'll get along with living with me. The move-in went quite smoothly and a few hours later Sarah moved in a floor below us. For the first few days before classes the three of us were hanging out constantly. With the beginning of classes we saw one another significantly less, but still quite often. Also with classes came Stacy, a new addition to our group. Things continued going well.

Unfortunately, I had no idea the workload that came with my classes. Sarah and I were editing and writing stories quite often, I had lab reports that my group didn't help with, and the general work for my other classes (spare Physics) was quite difficult. My free time grew shorter and shorter each week.

Even with the constantly growing workload in front of me, I was not about to abandon fun all together. There were daily lunches where everyone would hangout and talk. We went to AWA, which was amazing. There was a hurricane party at my house for me and a few friends. There were times we sat in the hall or kitchen having fun talking.

So much happened that I find it hard to believe it was one semester. And what an expensive semester it was! We went out to eat in groups several times, usually to La Hacienda (where the waiters now fear us). Some trips to Andolini's and various other places throughout campus. I, naturally, paid for as much as I could. Whether it was La Ha, Waffle House, or even an AlphaSmart, I spent more money than I expected to (everything I earned over the summer).

In the midst of the semester we came upon Thanksgiving. This also happened to be right next to my birthday (same day last year), so I had a combination party for both. In addition, my brother was scheduled to leave for the airforce not long after I went back to college, so it was a Goodbye party for him at the same time. I got an iPod, so I was quite pleased with the birthday, though it was no longer in my possession once returning to school. lol

Life picked up right where it left off after Thanksgiving break. Classes continually got harder as teachers tried to squeeze more material into a smaller time than they had planned. All of my classes were beginning to get stressful, but I kept going because it was almost over. Then the time came for finals, which I dreaded for only two reasons. It was not because of the number of finals or their difficulty. The first, and more potent, reason I dreaded it was that it would mean everyone was leaving. I, for one, did not want to go home, but more than that I didn't want everyone else to go. But, it was inevitable, so I just looked toward my oncoming tests instead of thinking about it. There was really only one that I was preparing hard for, Japanese.

This was the second thing I was dreading. Our Japanese final was to do a skit and the script we had written was anything but simple for me. My entire portion consisted of complex sentences using vocabulary we hadn't learned yet. I performed a cooking show where I gave the recipes for salsa and tortilla chips in Japanese followed by a Lucky Charms commercial. It embarrassed me to no end to sing the Lucky Charms song with an Irish accent in Japanese. lol

With the end of finals, Christmas break was underway. For CofC, it's a very long break. Yet, the entire time I was at home (spare a two nights I was with friends) I didn't do anything. I spent the entire beginning of the vacation looking forward to Sarah's party. On the 21st Riley, Stacy, and I headed to Greenville to get there a day early. We had a great time there and I met many people I did not know during the party. And for one of us (*Cough* Stacy *Cough*) this night would have a great impact in the future. It was an amazing party with great food. We had much leftover cake by the end and everyone was content. The next day, after a bit more time hanging around Greenville, we headed back to Charleston in time for Christmas.

Christmas at my house was nowhere near as spectacular as it had been in past years, but I've noticed that each year it's been less fun than when I was young. Thanks to Christmas I have enough money in the bank to make it through this semester and an upgrade to my computer, so I'm quite happy.

Then, out of pure curiosity, I decided to contact John one day because he invited me to a New Years party in Greenville and I remembered him saying something about coming down before it. I wanted to clarify if he was or wasn't and see if I could bum a ride, so I messaged. By chance I had messaged just after he left, so his mom who got the message told him and he called me. He was on his way down and stopped by my house for a little while to get some things before heading down to surprise his GF. Then, on the way up, they stopped by and I was indeed able to bum a ride to his party.

After a small navigational mistake, we made it to Greenville by about 8pm on New Years Eve. Several people, more whom I didn't know, showed for this party and we played games and watched TV until close to midnight. Then we watched the ball drop and the year ended in a rather anticlimactic way. To try to make the night more interesting several of us went to Steak and Shake for a midnight snack. Unfortunately they were understaffed, so the service was terrible. Still, it gave us a chance to all hang out, and that's always fun. After we called it a night and headed back.

The next day we were planning on heading back to Charleston. Jenn and John had work on the 2nd, so we needed to be back that night. But before we left, there were a few more things to do. John and Neel went to BK and each bought all 3 of the games. We played them and The Bible Game for a little while before heading over to Neel's. That's when things got weird, but fun.

We first grabbed a string of firecrackers and, in the middle of a parking lot, put them inside of the Bible Game case. We lit them and ran into the car for shielding. Yet, the game came out unscathed. A bit smoky, but playable. So next we headed back to Neel's house and pulled out his potato cannon. After technical difficulties and an hour of work to get it to shoot, we finally were able to fire a test potato. With the gun functioning we taped the Bible Game (in the case) to the end of the gun and shot a potato into it. The case was almost completely destroyed, but the game was once more undamaged. We were beginning to wonder if it could be destroyed. So we tried again.

We captured this shot on video at a very close range as the potato cannon fired, breaking both the CD and the case into very small pieces and scattering them about the yard. I'm not sure if all the pieces were ever found, but we found enough to confirm it's destruction. With that we all felt accomplished and headed home. But that's not where the night ends.

Once arriving in Goose Creek we instead met friends at Waffle house in celebration. We had done this once before over the summer and it was a very enjoyable day, so we thought we'd repeat it. Then we finally went home.

The last few days of my vacation were spent just as every day had been at home during the rest. I was quite bored and when I found out from Russell and John that I could come back early, I took the offer ASAP. So I officially moved into my new room in 302B, since Russell became an RA. I had technically moved in before leaving for Christmas break, but we just re-arranged the room and tossed our stuff in there, so I hadn't gotten settled in. The semester has only begun and I can already tell I'm going to have quite a workload this time around too. I'm just hoping that everything turns out all right, Karma has been beating the crap out of me recently. I just need to get my GPA up and I should be fine.

So that's my update for the past several months. It's rather vague, so if you want more details you can ask me anything you're curious about. And with that I bid LJ adieu.
