England and Scotland!

So finally I took the effort to make this photoreport of the weird and amaaazing trip to England and Scotland. I don't want to ruin anyone's lay-out so I'll just make a very clickable lj-cut of every single place we've been to. Because it'll be a lot of pictures - and I've even chosen the nicest ones, go figure - so that's the best thing to do I guess. Click on the name you want to see pictures of or just view the whole lot.
Hope you enjoy, or something.

First night with the tent. Oy. And a few screaming little buggars who thought it'd be funny to poke our tent and giggle.

Next day, York! Beautiful weather and there was some kind of rowing-event going on.

The view. I really liked the architecture. Yay for York!

The Cathedral

The 2nd night it was sunday and the train we wanted to catch.. didn't ride on sundays or something. So we had to make a plan. In the end we slept at a golfcourse in a kind of deserted place. xD I found a golfbal! It was a funny experience but I like campsites better. There you have toilets, and stuff. >.>

Before we could go to Whitby, we had to wait a few hours at a even more deserted railway station.

So how do you spend your time then? Playing cards and running across the rail ofcourse!

Finally we arrived at Whitby. Very touristic, but yet NO near campsites. *grumbles* So we had to walk more than half an hour but in the end we made it and spent the night at a farmer's field. Yay!

A plus was the surroundings. Lookie!

It's a biiig field. With a lot of..

... sheep.

Suddenly the weather changed drastically. We decided to go back, have some quick food and to crawl into our tent.

And then finally: Edinbugh! We stayed at a Youth Hostel (showers!) in a street with waaay to much cool shops in it. And ofcourse we went checking out the city itself.

I love Edinburgh ^^

I just had to hug this poet-man. Don't know why exactly.

We really wanted to visit this castle, but it costed like 10 pounds p.p. to enter. Tssk. We decided to admire the outside instead.

Another church. Oh yesh.

And then you look right and you suddenly see this. Really weird, all day you've seen this 'modern' architecture and then you find this. But I like it.

There were maaaad cows all over the city!

And again. Icecream! Yay for that.

Our room at the youthhostel. And yes, we're pretty good at making a mess.

Edinburgh at night.

After Edinburgh we ended up in Balloch. We thought we could find a campsite. Oh we did, but they didn't allow tents anymore. Even my not-very-real crying act didn't work out. So we decided to camp on a little field just across the campsite and near the McDonalds xD. Because, you know, sometimes a person has to pee.

"View from the afternoon". If you look closely enough you'll see the McDonalds sign.

We were a bit bored and decided to walk our way up, Carien remembered a route she'd walked before. This is at the beginning of our little stroll ^^.

We got pretty far, I tell you. Arrr.

Duuuuuuhhhhhhh.

Omg. But I still like it.

The view at the almost-top. Hahaa!

When we got back a few kids seemed to have 'terrorised' our tent, because a half-eaten sandwich was lying on our tent and all the uhm. 'haringen' had been pulled out. :( *raises fist* You scum! That's why we thought it was safe to throw all the things inside when we got out again. And yesh, it was a mess.

The next morning the sun was shining and a very sweet cat came to us, wanting attention. Fotoshoot time!

Hee-hee <3

And at last, we could go. Off to Armadale!

So we went to Armadale, a place on the Orkney Islands. It was a long journey by train, but we were able to see splendid landscapes!

Then we had to take the ferry to Armadale. It's a marvelous island, too bad the weather wasn't that good.
Here some pictures of the island itself: the shore and again; a mountain-thingie.

The shore, when the sun was still trying to shine through the clouds.

I like this one ^^.

Surrounded by only nature. Peacefulness.

Horsies!

Haha this is such a silly sign. But very affective though. We just had to take a picture of it.

And off we were again. Back to the mainland!

We travelled to a place called Fort William, which is supposed to be quite a beautiful place. It is, but after three days of constant rain you're getting to be slightly sick of it! But anyway, the second day we decided to climb the 'Ben Nevis', UK's biggest mountain. I was a bit sceptical, but I wanted to go for it. Raaarrrh. Oh how I regretted that during the climb, but we almost made it! ^^ Until we were literally with our heads in the clouds and it started raining like mad. We went down as fast as our feet and the wet stones and rocks would allow us to.

Oehh. The mountain-that-is-to-be-climbed lookes gravely and threathening upon us.

I'm even looking forward to it. (8) Ain't no mountain high enough!

Try to think of the sky not as being pink. It really wasn't. Carien's cam was stoned.

On our way back. Being not very attractive yet very sarcastic and tired with my poncho on.

After taking a decent shower we encountered two guys who appeared to be Dutch. We decided to go to the Mcdonalds and explore the town again. We never parted during the rest of the vacation ^^.

At the McDonalds, hungry and tired.

Aarnout likes to make pictures. =P

Yaaay I was able to snatch the camera out of his hands.

*pimp* And the sun was shining. Hallelujah!

(8)What's that coming over the hill? Is it a monster, is it a mooonsteeeeer!

The Three Musketiers. <3 Relaxed and funny Dutch people we met on the campsite. Aaweeeeoeeweeoeeweeambambuweee. In the jungle, the quiet jungle, the lion sleeps toooniiight!

Before leaving. ^^

That morning the four of us decided that we'd had enough of that rain and that we'd go to Glasgow.

We stayed at this wicked Youth Hostel called Globetrotters. So weird but the people there were nice. You constantly got lost because there were so many stairs and little hallways!

After a night of going-out, still not quite awake.

'Smile!' 'Yeah yeah..' *yawn*

Spanish Barbecue with Valencian Water. ^^

Having a good time with the "water", the hamburgers and the people!

Before going to the club ABC. Carien has drunk slightly too much "water". *chuckles*

Carien and Boris. I'm the matchmaker, muhaaa! =D

Louis <3. I admire him very much and he's so interesting. He just left Australia one day to travel and work around the world. He's got some wise things to say.

Louis: Now I'm going to bed and write some poetry. Bye!

Haha!

Our last day at Glasgow.. =(

Adios, Aarnout!

^^ Goodbye to you too Dick

In the morning we took the train to London. With a weird feeling in our stomach, because Glasgow, Globetrotters and the Youth Hostel had gotten a special place in our heart ^^

Compared to Glasgow the Youth Hostel in London kind of felt like a prison to us. So we escaped to Convent Garden <3.

And this one's for Dick, even though he doesn't remember anymore =P.

Next morning it was time to leave! But not before we had some evidence of the prison-like atmosphere over there.

We quickly fled out of London to Dover, where we had to wait for 4 or 5 hours before the ferry would go back to Callais.

Boooored!

Finally we're on the boat. It still feels a bit surreal, the thought of going home after such an intense time.

The boat from the inside. Luxury.

Melancholy.

I feel so blessed and happy that I've been able to experience all this, meeting all of these crazy/weird/interesting people and that I've learned a bit more about people ánd myself. Ok, now it's getting a bit too cheesy I guess.
Well, that's it. ^^ *relieved sigh*
