I didn't know for a long time that there was such a thing as themes for babies. I always just thought that babies needed baby things, and didn't realize that they had to be "specific" baby things. But I think that comes from what you grow up with and what's around you.

My family has always been so big on being thrifty that my father's mother has a whole HOUSE next door to her own house (it's kinda ancient and run down, so it's like a huge family storage building) that is stuffed full of baby/kid things that have been handed around from person to person, and it's always there if you need clothes or cribs or car seats or whatever (and with having 7 kids of her own, and over 20 grandchildren, and now almost 10 great grandchildren, they've gotten some use, omg).

So with that in mind, there's no way anyone in my family as ever had a "theme" for their baby, unless you count recycling or something. I only learned about them when my sister-in-law started having kids, and I was told "Baby B has a zoo theme, so buy things with zoo animals on them!" and "Baby G has a polka-dot theme, so buy things with polka-dots".

But I gotta tell you that even now I don't quite understand it. So, you're not alone. And don't let people pressure you into thinking that you gotta do it because everyone around you is. It's your baby. Do what you want to do, and you'll be happier in the end. And not any less of a girl.

Yes, exactly. Babies need *BABY* things, so that's the theme. Things that are actually good for baby.

And oh wow, that place that your grandmother has with all sorts of baby stuff sounds like a great resource for your family; how awesome. ♥
