Welcome!
A random assortment of things about me, with absolutely no coherence or deep and abiding significance. Also, there are eleven of them, because all amplifiers should go to eleven.
☯ I've recently fallen head over heels into the world of Sherlock BBC (feb 2011) and and am slowly dipping my toes into that world. God, it's a lovely place to be. [As such, I am basically trying to inhale every single piece of work Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have done ever in their careers. ♥]. Other, recent fandoms I date sometimes: Merlin, Cabin Pressure.
☮ I'm a teacher and very proud of it. As far as I'm concerned, children are the smartest people in the world, particularly six year olds.
✈ copilot = my partner [heterosexual]. I'm not a pilot, nor is he. Co-pilot was a word we started using together years and years ago in the quest to find a word that fit, rather than "girlfriend/boyfriend" which just didn't work for either of us. We've recently gotten married, but were together for about nine years beforehand. I still forget the married thing most of the time and seeing a ring on my finger manages to surprise me almost daily.
♣ Seamus Finnigan rocks my world in all times, moments, and incarnations.
✍ I'm a lefty. The rest of y'all just use the wrong hand. ;)
♂ Doctor John Watson & Dean Thomas are in heavy competition for the title of 'sexiest fictional male to exist in my world,' with the possible exceptions of Ron Weasley and Calvin O'Keefe.
☀ Barbara Kingsolver is the human being that I fangirl probably more than anyone else in the world. It would be hard not to stammer and blush and say things like "fnnnullibbit" if I ever had the pleasure of meeting her in person.
☥ I have a hopeless crush on James Blake. I enjoy tennis as well. Can't play it for shit, but love to watch it.
☆ I used to live in Boston. I miss it. A lot.
✄ I am not hopelessly positive, though I may come off so on LJ. Really, I have a lot of ups and downs so much of the time, but I try hard not to dwell on the negative, and do something to change or work against whatever issue or obstacle is bothering me.
♥ I love the morning ritual of a warm beverage. Generally, it's coffee or tea, but it could be hot chocolate or cider or anything someone hasn't yet invented. For me, the simple ritual of having a warm beverage in my hands and sipping it while I have a quiet moment thinking about the day (either plans for teaching, or just whether or not I'm going to "forget" to do the laundry) is something that I like to hold sacred. It helps ground me. [corollary to number 11: I also love wine, mojitos, margaritas, and Bailey's. Basically, beverages rock my world.]
.:. I'm going to post-date this so it stays at the top of my journal as a sort of welcome & guestbook rolled into one. Feel free to drop a comment or a hello. I always like meeting new people, and while I don't 'friend' back automatically (I feel more comfortable getting to know someone a little bit first), I love the chance to meet and connect with new people and I do add new journals when the mood strikes! ♥
