music!!

I love discovering new music. To me, it's like a simple, personal expanding of my own creativity. Don't ask me why -- it sounds weird to me, even writing it, but it's like... chocolate to me. :)

Last week, I went to see Girlyman for the fouth time [!!!!] with wordplay [clearly we are each other's enablers. :)]. The last time I went, I brought my assistant principal, who loved them! This time, wordplay brought two friends, bookwench31 and didi75, and my AP brought four friends, so there were NINE of us!

It was exciting because the opening band was also a folk trio with good harmonies, We're About Nine, who so clearly have fun onstage.

It was better because everyone with us had a blast! Several people said, "I don't know when I've had more fun [or laughed more] at a concert." It's all about the Girlyman, folks. Great music, great harmonies, and a freakin' amazing time with some really talented people. *is fangirl*

Anyway, in the spirit of promoting musicians that operate on a much smaller scale, I've uploaded four songs for you to enjoy. If you like them, I encourage you to support the bands by going to a show, buying a CD or other merchandise, and etc... Download, love, support! Keep new musicians doing what they do best! w00t!

Girlyman:
Young James Dean [song by ty about being genderqueer. I ♥ her.]
Postcards From Mexico [song by nate that I can never completely get out of my head.]

We're about 9:
Writing Again [gah, I love this song. It's about being heartbroken and bitter, but finding the ability to write again -- somewhat tongue in cheek]
Move Like Light [very short, but this song gets me going in the car every morning and I love it. beautiful.]
