Chapter 30 - Decision
From the balcony, Kyuhyun’s eyes followed the petite figure descending the steps calmly, fingers lightly brushing on the glass railings of the staircase. “Ryeowook!” He called out the youngster, causing the latter’s head to shot up, gazing the male standing upstairs skeptically. “Yes, lord?” Ryeowook questioned nonchalantly, showing no evidence of other feelings arising by the fact of watching the exchange of kiss of his lord with Soon-kyu.
Kyuhyun narrowed his eyes in suspicion immediately - why would Ryeowook feel anything aside from hatred towards him? Shaking his head dismissively, he simply answered with the same impassivity from earlier. “We need to talk” Ryeowook nodded, but continued heading downstairs towards the dining room. “Now” Kyuhyun emphasized the word coldly, causing the youngster to shiver. However, Ryeowook was bold enough to ignore.
Knowing how stubborn his servant was, Kyuhyun didn’t hesitate to jump off from the balcony, landing loudly a few steps ahead of Ryeowook, causing the latter to stumble back from the shock. “Which part of the ‘now’ you didn’t understand?” Kyuhyun rudely questioned, to which Ryeowook’s piercing gaze only answered with disdain. “I believe it’s impolite to leave a guest waiting. Isn’t that what you taught me?” the simple sentence was filled with resentment from the moment he had to ‘receive’ one of Kyuhyun’s guests.
“Ryeowook ah?” the voice resonated through the room, causing both to turn their heads towards its direction - it was Hyungsik. Ryeowook replaced his defying expression with a smile as he watched the other male standing in the doorframe watching them questioningly. “Whatever you want to talk about can be later, my lord” Ryeowook grumbled addressing him sarcastically while wearing that fake smile - that title should be used to someone who deserved it. With those last words said, he ran towards Hyungsik that was beginning to worry about them, still completely clueless regarding the nature of their relationship.
Although enraged, Kyuhyun certainly wouldn’t make a fuss over that “special” guest for now. Of course this was somewhat related to ruin the bet between Soon-kyu and Myungsoo. Also, he needed to place his thoughts in order - his mind was failing lately. From the beginning he had sympathy for the younger since they were of the same kind, but those overflowing feelings were unknown for him - though he started to take a liking to Ryeowook’s different sides, he also learned to hate them. This is why he wanted to keep distance.
He didn’t wish to get involved emotionally with someone who was bound to die.
Sighing in frustration, Kyuhyun walked towards the living room occupying the couch while returning to his thoughtful state from earlier. Soon-kyu frowned by the sight when crossing the living room, because she understood her plan failed. Instead of coaxing her boss into fighting, she went to the dining room to take care of some arrangements. A loud gasp escaped her mouth by the sight she saw, freezing on her spot. “B-boss” she mumbled pointing her index finger inside the room.
“What?” Kyuhyun was already moody for being lost in his thoughts, but only worsened when those were interrupted again.
“They are… kissing” she was paling, which made Kyuhyun quirk his eyebrows. Unsure of whether to believe the girl or not, he stood up heading towards the room. The demon paused when he saw the scene. Albeit Ryeowook’s back being turned to them, they could easily tell he was sitting on the male’s lap, hungrily kissing the other that was seemingly surprised by the action. Kyuhyun was about to turn around and ignore all of this, when a painful screech erupted suddenly, followed by the scent of blood spreading through the house.
Soon-kyu was the first one to react as her eyes became a bright blue, making a long jump successfully tackling Ryeowook to the floor, immobilizing the youngster that started struggling right after. The rest of the staff appeared due to the commotion happening, also because the scent attracted them. Kyuhyun, on the other hand, headed to where Hyungsik was sitting, analyzing the place where he was stabbed with a knife. “I-I’m sorry” Hyungsik weakly muttered while whimpering in pain.
Despite being confused at first by the words spoken, Kyuhyun’s eyes softened as he ruffled the male’s hair. “That’s not your fault at all.” The demon assured, signaling for Myungsoo and Sungyeol to assist him, while Key called for emergency. “Why he had red eyes?” Hyungsik was trembling when asking that, fear evident on his eyes. Since he had no answer to give, Kyuhyun went towards Soon-kyu that was having troubles in keeping the youngster under her control.
“Let him go” Kyuhyun ordered, to which Soon-kyu gladly complied with. Ryeowook’s scarlet red eyes scanned through the room in search of another object to pierce through someone, anyone. Noticing it had none, Ryeowook advanced to attack Kyuhyun, who simply held his wrists and twisted them. The youngster shrieked in pain, still trying to fight against the older. “Return him to this body, otherwise I won’t hesitate to kill you both now” Kyuhyun menacingly spoke, eyes becoming deep silver mixed with blue as the demon side of Ryeowook refused to obey. “I doubt you would” the male defied, laughing maniacally right after.
Without wavering, Kyuhyun twisted it again. All the room could hear the bones breaking and a loud scream resonating - his hands were broken now. Hyungsik was about to interfere, but he was prevented from doing so by the employees that knew it would enrage their lord. Suddenly, Ryeowook’s eyes returned to its dark brown color, welling up from the painful sensation. The tears that were lodged on the corner of his eyes soon streamed down as he gazed at the male standing in front of him with a blank expression.
“Why?” Ryeowook murmured weakly as he fell on his knees.
“Look at your hands and at Hyungsik” Kyuhyun ordered. Ryeowook weakly saw his hands tainted with a red liquid - blood. Suddenly, his gaze averted to the male on the chair in a pained state with blood flowing from his abdomen. “Apologize” Ryeowook nodded to this demand, remaining on his knees. “I-I am s-sorry” he stuttered amidst his confusion the only certainty he currently had was: it was his fault.
Hyungsik was still frightened, simply nodding. “Bring him upstairs” Kyuhyun left Ryeowook under Soon-kyu’s care again. She carefully helped the boy up trying to soothe his pain as they headed out of their rooms. “Are you afraid of dying, Park?” Kyuhyun asked out of the blue, startling the youngster that shot up his head eyeing the male with scared eyes.
“Who isn’t?” Hyungsik hesitantly answered as he tried to back away from the demon - anyone would after watching Kyuhyun heartlessly breaking Ryeowook’s hands. “Thought so” Kyuhyun simply muttered, leaving the room as he trusted Myungsoo and Sungyeol enough to leave the young Park under their care - fortunately his wound didn’t hit any vital organ.
Kyuhyun plopped down on the couch, conflicted of how to proceed. From the corner of the room, the figure of Leeteuk appeared.
“I think it’s time to get rid of Ryeowook.” Leeteuk finally announced the right decision to be made.
