well kids.
i got the bad news yesterday.
i was not selected for the french assistantship i wanted. i really think it came down to the fact that i am not a french major...which is a bunch of bull crap......

Please excuse my silence. The decision was difficult for us, and you will be gratified to know that your dossier was highly competitive. However, we have determined our two candidates for Nancy 2, and I regret to inform you that you were not selected. Nonetheless, all of us were impressed by your qualifications, and I will be delighted to write a letter of recommendation on your behalf for a French Government Teaching Assistantship. i really had my heart set on that.
it just goes to show everytime i set my heart out for something, it gets mangled in some horrible web of awfulness that only makes me mad and bitter. yeah, i am bitter about it. he told me in office hours that i was more than qualified to go. *shrug* i guess i have the regular teaching assistantship then, huh? the same one i did last year. if i get placed in bretagne i am not going, i swear.
i'm not unhappy. i still get to go to france. i still get an assistantship. it's not the one i wanted, but i still get one.
i do have a date tonight.
so maybe that will cheer me up.
