Remember I started a SGA re-watch a few months ago? About a month ago, I watched 3x16 (The Ark) - which is the episode before Sunday.
I hadn't watched Sunday in years, and for weeks, I just couldn't bring myself to watch it.
Basically, the main thing I remembered about that episode was everyone refusing to go fishing with Carson, which made the explosion so much more heartbreaking. I was so focused on that stuff that I forgot all of the other fantastic aspects of that episode.
I forgot about Mike Branton - the (kind of hot) guy with the ego who is "more appealing than a wall". And watching it again now, I've decided that he's a less attractive version of Alcide from True Blood.
Then there's the entire scene with John and Ronon, where John is the dorkiest (most adorable) guy EVER. His reaction to Ronon's one handed golf swing is classic John.
Wait. I'll get a video of it:

How could you not love John after that scene? Maybe some pictures will help (You can click on these pics for large versions:
See how impressed he is here, with the chest hair, and those lips. GUH!
And when Ronon criticises his game, he kind of pouts.
And after Ronon walks off, he tries the one handed swing himself - and fairs terribly. (Also, his butt looks nice in this pic!)
Then there's the hilarious scene where Ronon makes him play that "Satedan sport"...
Ronon: Round three. (stands on one leg)
Sheppard: Oh come on. Oh you are making this stuff up. This is not a traditional Satedan sport. This is an excuse to make me look dumb and kick my ass.
*stares for longer than I care to admit*
This is followed by a great conversation in John's quarters, where we not only learn a bit more about their characters, but also hear this little piece of gold:
Sheppard: You dating anyone?
Ronon: You mean like a woman?
Sheppard: Or a man.
Oh John, we get it honey. :)
Next there's the scene with Rodney and Katie Brown. I always enjoy hearing Hewlett say my name in his wonderful accent. There is so much "actual Hewlett" in the way he plays Rodney in this scene. I love it a lot. :)
(And the blue shirt really brings out the blue in his eyes.
Then Katie explains that the baby ferns might die, and Rodney shows so clearly that their relationship is doomed, with his response, "So what? They're ferns".
(Oh Rodney, I love you!)
Then there's his hilarious non-proposal, which I find so adorable that I think there might be something wrong with me!
McKay: It's funny, you know. As much as I hate to admit it, seeing my little sister so happy with her... family, I-I just, uh... well, it kind of made me realize that, uh... well... I'd like to get married.
Katie: You would?
McKay: Oh, no, not to you.
Katie: Oh.
McKay: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. Not not to you.
Katie: (speaking over him) No, I-I think...
McKay: (speaking over her) Look, I was just - I mean-no, no, no, that was not a proposal. I was just - I was just talking.
Katie: Right.
McKay: You know what I mean? I just don't want you to get the wrong - It's not that I wouldn't be interested in-in-in getting married to someone - I mean, someone like you... I mean, someone just like you...you, even, maybe, one day. I just, uh-
Katie: I know, I know. It's okay.
McKay: I like you a lot. I mean, I do.
Katie: I-I know you do, and I like you a lot too.
McKay: I know. And to be honest, I-I-I find that just... baffling.
Katie: Oh come on, now.
McKay: No, no, no, it's other people too. They find it baffling, too.
I love his adorably awkward rambling!
Then we see Lorne painting!
I love this scene so much!
And then there's the explosion... which is incredibly sad. But it gives us that amazing scene between Rodney and Ronon in Carson's quarters. That's the point where I start crying. The emotions on Hewlett's face just kill me, and seeing Ronon - the guy who hardly says a word if he can help it - being comforting to Rodney just breaks my heart.
David Hewlett, you are a fantastic actor.
And yes, the rest of it is very sad, but I can't stop myself from squeeing a little when he see John in his dress uniform.
I feel bad, because they all look so sad, but I love the airforce dress uniform so much!
It's okay, Lorne, I'll comfort you.
And then we see tears in Ronon's eyes. And Rodney's eyes. And there's the bagpipes... And I'm still crying.
Oh, Carson.
It's just... it's just so sad, but it's all so good as well. So... that's why I love Sunday.
