Katie's English class is reading Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men...
We started talking about Steinbeck and how much I/we hate his work.
When we got talking about the Pearl (which I LOATH with a fiery hatred deeper than... I dunno, a shoebox? Well, MUCH, MUCH deeper than a shoebox.), I ended up getting excited and angry and had this to say at the time:
"me: Quite frankly, I think that if there were to be some kind of orgy with all the American cast of Yugi Oh and they all got high and wrote a book about some poor Mexican finding a shiny object, it'd probably be a lot better than Steinbeck's The Pearl..."
And now that I've cooled down a bit, I still don't disagree with that. xD
My GODDESSES, what a depressing and poorly-written book.
Eech, I just got chills. xDDD
