Crossing the "porn event horizon" D:

The fine line between 'adding some sex appeal' to a comic story or graphic novel, and 'pornifying' it thereby degrading it.

Make the protagonist sexy, hot, cute, beautiful, handsome, etc. That happens a lot and it's all right. Eye candy, why not? But "the sexier the better"? Not necessarily. There is the point of 'too much'. And there is also the question about 'how'. After all, sex appeal is in the eye of the beholder.

I have nothing against porn, but it is what it is. When a character does a "sexy pose" for no apparent reason except for satisfying the reader, then it's no longer a story, it has become porn. It just distracts. Sometimes even alienates (when it's not my taste). In any case, my interest for the story is lost. Not because I'm offended by porny stuff, but because the characters behave or are depicted in ways making no sense except for being "wank-material". :-/
