So, I'm ahead of schedule! Wow.
The Last Legend has been published!
I've ordered a copy of the hardcover book for myself to look over - I'm a little concerned with how the page formatting and spacing has turned out, but, hopefully, it will be totally fine. (The PDF will make it So.) (^__^)b
Here are the details:
eBooks (for $7.99) from
Smashwords.com are available in a variety of formats:
Kindle (.mobi)
Online Reading (HTML & JavaScript)
TXT (plain text)
PDF (Adobe Reader)
RTF (rich text, should load in your word processor, whatever it is)
Palm Doc (.pdb)
ePub
LRF (for Sony Reader)
Note: The formatting is nothing fancy. That way it's compatible with more readers and software programs.
AND: There is a coupon code for purchases at Smashwords.com. Enter MD28D at checkout to save 40% (which brings the price of the book to $4.79). This coupon expires on April 1, 2011.
Hardcover copies are available from
Lulu.com for $29.59 (which is 20% off the Retail Price). Shipping is $4.99 within the U.S. but it may take a while for you to get your order. First they have to print it, which might take up to a week, and then they'll ship it out. (And, you might want to hold off on the hardcover version until I approve it. But if you can't contain your enthusiasm until April, I certainly won't mind.) (^__~)
Soon-ish, The Last Legend will be available in at several retails stores, which is handy. Of course, buying directly from Smashwords or Lulu cuts out the "middle man", which make me happy!
But seriously, I'm just interested in sharing The Last Legend with people who want to read it. I'm not going to try to put a spin on my book or generate lots of hype to convince people to give it a try. Either the summary strikes your fancy or it doesn't, and it's OK if it doesn't. That's what I figure. So people who are intrigued will read it and, hopefully, the book won't disappoint.
P.S. So, yeah, in the end, I didn't go with Blurb.com. Their software just didn't work for me and their pricing was a bit higher than Lulu's. There's another self-publishing site I'm considering - Wordclay.com - which does only paperbacks. I'll have to reformat all the pages to a smaller size, though, so I'll hold off on that for a bit. For now, it's back to Without Wings.
MARCH 12 EDIT: So, I've been looking at Lulu and Wordpress for 5"x8" (or smaller) paperbacks and it looks like I won't be able to offer them at a competitive price. Frankly, they'll be about $20 each. Ouch. If anyone is DYING for a paperback copy, let me know and I see about formatting it. But, considering the price (over $12), I'm thinking not many people are going to be interested. I mean, hey, the hardcover is like $9.50 more, y'know? Anyway. If you're a die-hard paperback-all-the-way-baby sort of person, let me know and I'll offer it.
