Am I crazy?

I just registered for my first 1/2 marathon!  Woohooo!  I'm excited to give this a try... I've only done one 10k race prior to this, but I really want something to work towards in my running.  One of my friends here is doing it too.  She lives a bit far from me so we probably won't train together much, but at least we can encourage each other, and we'll have someone to meet on the race day.  I have to get going with the training... I have been running most days for 30, 40 minutes, which is an OK start I guess, but maybe it's time to get serious.  The marathon is on October 4th, in Bremen, so I've got time.  I just want to finish, and be able to run the whole way.  And preferably, not finish last, but if this is the case and I've accomplished my first two goals, then that's OK too.  Oh man I'm making myself nervous already.

Any tips anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

Other than that, I'm writing papers.  It's going to be a relaxing summer... I have enough time in between all the deadlines so I won't want to kill myself (unless I procrastinate too much), and I can pretty much write on anything I want, so I'm enjoying the research so far.

Yesterday I also made a spontaneous commitment: from now on, I only want to buy clothing either at thrift stores or stores which use fair trade/fair labor and organic cloth.  It's kind of the same feeling I got when I decided to do the vegetarian (well, now pescetarian) thing.  Just something that's been on my mind and it's finally made its way into a concrete action.  Anyone want to join me in this?  I think it'll be harder than it seems now...

Soon I'll buy tickets back to the US.  I'll probably be around in mid-July until early August... if you'll be around the east coast at that time let me know!
