blah blah blah

i desperately need to get my dog to the groomers.  my floor looks like a sea of dog hair...and i've vacuumed twice in the past week (i finally broke down and bought a vacuum, that's how bad it was getting).

i got to go boarding last friday.  that was a lot of fun.  i went up to copper though, and it really wasn't the best conditions.  very very icy in fact.  if you caught an edge, you would fall.  if you fell, you went the whole way down the mountain, because there was nothing to stop on.  no powder to dig into.  just ice.  after a while we found some better runs, but it still wasn't the greatest boarding experience i've had.  although, i had the day off, and ben had the day off, so we went together.  that was a lot of fun.  i haven't gone up to the mountains with anyone this season, i normally go by myself.  it was nice having company, especially on the lifts.  you don't feel so obligated to make small talk with the random strangers sitting next to you.

it's fun getting into this relationship with ben.  i'm just afraid i'm going to fall too hard, and get hurt really badly once one of us moves away.  maybe since i'm already aware that this is happening that may prevent it from hurting?  probably not.  but he's an awesome guy, and i enjoy spending time with him.  like i said, i spent friday with him, and we hung out at his place back in winter park.  saturday night he came down here and we saw finding neverland.  i was excited that it got re-released into the theaters, because i really wanted to see that movie.  and it turned out to be quite a good movie.

monday night was hot hot heat up at the fox.  that was a really good show.  tomorrow night i'm probably going to go down to denver to see the "ska is dead" tour.  it's streetlight manifesto (made up of members of some bands that i can't remember right now), voodoo glow skulls, mu330, and action shot.  i want to go support blake and his band because that's an awesome show for them to be a part of, and it's really cool saying you know the opening band for a show like that.  plus, they've got their cd ready and blake said he put my name in their liner notes!  as dorky as this sounds, i've always wanted to be in a band's liner notes.  and friday night ben and i are going to see the walkmen, also down in denver.  so it's been quite a music-oriented week, and i'm not sure if i can handle all the music.  we'll see.  i feel like i'm getting too old for multiple shows.  i mean, i'm so old, 22 :)

friday night when i was up in winter park, i found out that ben had only had one mix made for him before, and that was from a gay guy he worked with at his college radio station.  so, i took it to my liberty to make him a mix cd.  i just finished all the logistics and stuff on it this morning, and i think i did a pretty good job.  here's the track listing for it:

1. Ted Leo & the Pharmacists - The High Life
2. The Postal Service - Clark Gable
3. Trembling Blue Stars - The Ghost of an Unkissed Kiss
4. Belle & Sebastian - Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying
5. Jeff Buckley - Grace
6. The Darkness - Friday Night
7. Say Hi To Your Mom - Hooplas Involving Circus Tricks
8. Beck - Halo of Gold
9. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Nobody Weird Like Me
10. The Thermals - No Culture Icons
11. Brendan Benson - Folk Singer
12. Cary Brothers - Blue Eyes
13. Bright Eyes - First Day of My Life
14. Aloha - I Wish No Chains Upon You
15. My Morning Jacket - Golden
16. Eisley - The Winter Song
17. Coldplay - Yellow
18. The Beatles - Blackbird
19. The Velvet Teen - Caspian Can Wait
20. The Black Keys - She Said, She Said

personally, i really like this mix.  it's a combination of some of my favorite songs, songs i thought he'd like, and songs that kind of reminded me of him in some way or another.  it's kind of scary though...i've never made a mix for anyone i've been dating before.  i guess i was going for the perfect combination of good songs, without anything being too....i don't know...cheesy, relationshipy (that is a word now, i said so), potentially scary.  basically, no sappy love songs.  although some of my favorite songs are borderline sappy love songs (coldplay's yellow, for instance), but still unassuming enough.

as far as the law school update goes, it really doesn't look like i'll end up on the east coast.  out of my original batch of applications, i still have two schools left to hear from, but have pretty much had rejections all around.  i have two schools left in pennsylvania from the second batch (penn state and villanova), and if those don't work out, i'm stuck in the midwest.  i do still have five schools left to hear from, but at this point i'm thinking of just trying again next year.  it won't hurt.  my new idea is that if it doesn't work out this year, i can find a real job, preferably one that has something relatively to do with what i want to study in law school (something human rights/civil liberties-ish), and that'll help me out a lot more next year.  also retake the LSAT (if i can) and take a class this time.  and, now that we realized my parents' connections with some places, actually utilize them for next year.  this is seeming a lot more promising right now, because i'm also seriously debating over whether i really want to go back to school for three more years just at this point in time.
