Sometimes it is good to reflect and recall some great things that have happened in the near past. I shall continue and do just that.
* Finished up the Fall semester at UF. Ended up with 3 A's, 1 B+, and a B. This reminds me that I love school, and I also love taking a break from it. But you know what? I am excited for the Spring semester! I'll be taking some more really interesting courses that will consume much of my time.
* Listening to my main man, Dinosaur Dave, play the guitar. In all honestly, he has surpassed the limit of just being "good." If anyone has heard any of the songs that he has composed in the last few weeks, you will realize immediately that David is truly becoming an excellent song writer. I wish him the best of everything with his music because besides friends and family, music is pretty much supreme for him. He spends mass amounts of time playing his guitar and it definitely shows. And it is for him and also his music that I am thankful. And don't forget about his "stunning good looks." You're welcome.
* I am not exactly sure why I am infatuated with the Tupac "Resurrection" DVD, but I am. It is a brilliant documentary of his life and the purpose and motives behind his music and persona. Although I cannot relate to many of his lyrics, the passion that he emits is moving. I think he was and still is, through his songs, a spokesperson for the oppressed. And I think he was successful to some degree. Anyhow, if you are looking for the best Tupac documentary, don't turn to "Thug Angel." Pick up "Resurrection."
* I have thoroughly enjoyed my time being back at home with my parents in Lakeland. They continue to amaze me, and their generosity and compassion are very humbling. It helps me to put things in perspective a little.
* I got a bicycle for Christmas, and I will be happy to once again ride the streets of Gainesville. If anyone wants to take a ride with Dizzle, holla at your boy.
* I have not listened to it all the way through, but the new "Summerbirds in the Cellar" is part of my "perfect music" category. Very chill and warming. Once I get a copy of this for myself, it will definitely get worn out soon afterwards.
* Religious studies are about as captivating as it gets for me. I have found something that truly intrigues me, and I hope that I will have more time in the future to devote some of my time to doing some sort of work in this field.
* The conversation with Jen Z. yesterday was very exciting. Everytime I talk to her, the more I miss her. I would really like to live in the same town as her again one day. I was admitting to her that I have "fallen in love" with watching football, and she admitted the same. I don't think that either of us would have predicted that we would both one day love football, but life is full of surprises.
* Rio taught me to play two games last night. The first was "Pente" and the second was "Othello." Both games were overwhelmingly beautiful. They are excellent tools in teaching us to thnk in different ways. At one point, we think we have everything figured out and our on top of the world. The next minute we have lost everything and are looking for help. That is the way the world turns. It helps me to remember that things are not as they seem. Thank you Rio!
* The new Bright Eyes material is mind-blowing. In my opinion, he truly speaks to our culture and sub-culture. He tells a part of the truth that "hits the nail on the head" in many spectrums. I am not quite sure of the song title, but he wrote one of the best, yet one of the saddest, songs I have ever heard. It is totally relevant, and I am glad that to this day, I love Bright Eyes with a passion.
I believe I have done enough rambling for one post. It is just comforting, and at the same time a bit scary, to think of the things that are influencing my existence. I am blessed beyond words, and I really have no reason why. But, thank you to all who are understanding of me, understanding of my ignorance and mistakes, and to those who continue to amaze me and are a part of my life's progression.
I realize that I am "dizzle-centric," but I can say that I have some of the best family and friends a person could ever want. Thank you again.
By the way, don't forget to watch the Gators beat Miami in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Eve. And, PLEASE, don't forget to pour out a little "bubbly-bubbly" (champaigne, wine, beer, liquor... doesn't make a difference - Just pour some out) for Flow. I'll do the same for you!
Peace and love.
