Hehehe, I know, Aki's first punchline could be seen from a mile away, but I was hoping his cuteness will save it. Looks like he managed ^_~

In my own VF universe Akihito becomes a smart-ass, if a bit silly at times, and Asami learns to loosen up around him (or like Takaba says - again, in my VF AU - he takes the stick out of his ass ^^"). It sort of balances them out. Aki gets to make fun of Asami and Asami enjoys it, throwing his own smart-ass comments back at him. NOt all the time, of course, but often enough to give Akihito a sense of equality, and consequently safety, in a relationship. Because no matter how I look at it I just can't see Takaba being happy in a Dominant/submissive relationship... And I want to see the pair in a real one :P
