Just finished my first discussion post for the week. All I have left is a quiz, another discussion post, to finish reading three chapters (I did a half-ass job reading them to get enough information to write the discussion post) and to do an outline of a project that is due in a month. *sigh*
Last weekend was graduation at UD. I sang in the choir at Baccalaureate Mass, but did not attend the graduation itself. Looking over a sea of young, vibrant, excited new graduates was inspiring...and disheartening, because my own (FINAL) academic journey is soooo long. By design. I'm adding a year onto the coursework by taking just one class at a time (four a year). The benefits far outweigh the cost of an additional year to complete the program: it's more affordable and manageable with my schedule, and I actually have free time to spend with my husband.
Besides...the starry-eyed phase of graduation passes quickly, and I know that four years will pass in the blink of an eye. Scary that it has already been 8 since our own graduation!
Work is going well. One of the benefits of working at the corporate office is that I am about 100 feet from the C-Level suite (CEO, CFO, etc.) They all know me by name and where I sit. I had to send summaries of my work and the work of my colleagues to the president of the company, and I had the CEO stop by my desk to tell me I did a great job. Intimidating, but definitely a confidence-booster!
My goal this year is to be a runner. I have run in several 5Ks this year, the most recent being last weekend. I am not really out to race, my goal right now is to run the full 3.1 miles without walking at all. This last one, I had increased my pace and walked only about four minutes, finishing in 33:47. My prior times were 36:35 and 36:57. Still - if I could run the whole damn thing, I could potentially be right at 30 minutes!
It's good to have a goal. I have another one coming up this weekend (I want to run as many as I can before the weather gets unbearably hot).
And...end of random update mode, I suppose. I hope everyone is well.
