thought i'd revist my 6/2006 post:
"even though i'm not in a relationship right now, i know a few things i want out of the next one..
1. it has to be real: i.e. not so instable that i fear breathing wrong and having it end
2. it can't be out of desperation: just because someone shows interest in me does not mean i have to settle
3. it can't be comparable to any past relationships: constantly comparing your present relationship to past ones cheapens it, and makes it obvious you're still bitter
4. i have to be completely comfortable: i want to be myself and not have to change anything or hide anything.
5. i want a level of trust so that we CAN go to different places on any given night and trust the other
6. it can't be a relationship just for show: i've seen it too many times.
7. theres gotta be some emotions involved in it; i guess if all the other conditions apply, this'll just fall into place. the last thing i need is to get myself tied up in a farce"
