Death :'(
Someone from my school died last night in a car accident. While others are crying and utterly depressed, I'm feeling only pity for his family, nothing more. Does that make me a horrible person? Though to clear it up, I had never spoken to this guy in my life. I only knew of him, I didn't actually know him. Maybe that's what's keeping me from being depressed, not knowing everything he aspired to do with his life, what he had going for him in his life, who he was as a person.
Death itself is no shock, everyone dies at one point of another, but it's horrible when it's someone who never really got to live, grow old, fall in love, have children, ect.
This is not to say I'm insensitive to all death, when a family member died, I was a wreck.
Now off the subject of him and still on the subject of death... Do you know what I've always found interesting, how people never speak ill of the dead. I mean, a person can be a vindictive, self-absorbed, bigot, but if they die, all people will ever talk about is how 'great of a guy he was'. I'm not saying that it's good to insult people when they're gone, but why exactly do people pretend someone deceased was a decent, moral person when they're not?
