Saturday July 9th (THE WEDDING DAY!!!)
I slept pretty well (thanks to Tylenol’s simply sleep!!!) but I woke up at 6 and couldn't fall back asleep! As soon as I saw my sister stir I was like "are you awake" and everyone woke up pretty soon after that. All of my bridesmaids came and got into the king size bed that my sister and I were sharing and we talked and giggled and called the front table and demanded OJ for the "bride". I could finally call myself a bride because it was my wedding day after all!!!
We all took turns showering and my MOH went down to the continental breakfast and got some coffee and danishes for us to munch on while we were getting ready to go to our hair appointment. We left the hotel around 9am and drove to my aunt’s house to pick up my veil and head piece and check in on my family. All the guys (including my BM's boyfriends who didn't even know my family!!!) went golfing at 8 that morning. I guess they met DH at the hotel he was staying at and then all went and played 18 holes...I guess that was good because I’m sure DH was stressed at that point.
Anyway, so all of us girls headed to yet the next town over to get our hair started. I walked in the door and my stylist whisked me into the chair to begin my hair. Apparently she was stressed that my hair wouldn't do what we had planned so she wanted to give me plenty of time to set under the dryer after my head was rolled. My mom came in about 30 min. after we got there and brought muffins and fruit and juice for us to eat...it was nice to not worry about food that day!!! It took her about an hour to get my hair all up and rolled and then she put me off in a corner under a dryer. Meanwhile my sister and the other BM's were having their hair all done up and they were all looking so beautiful. After about an hour under the dryer she pulled me out to see how my hair was doing and low and behold I was done. The first roller she pulled out of my hair left a perfect Shirley Temple type curl in my hair. It was so bouncy it was just how I had pictured it! Everyone in the salon was looking at us and my hair because they couldn't believe just how perfect the ringlets were coming out!!!! She pulled all my hair out of the curlers and got to work setting it up like we had planned and then she put my tiara and veil in and we were good to go!
After we left the salon we went back to my aunt’s house and ate some lunch. At this time it was about 1:30 and the Photographer was supposed to arrive around 2:30. We took our time eating and started to get our makeup on and gather in the bedrooms around 2 when the PHOTOGRAPHER showed up 30 min. early. He is such a great guy, but we had a small moment or two of panic when we realized that he was here and none of us were dressed. He sat in his car for about 10 min. before coming to the front door and I hadn't even started getting dressed yet. I pulled my mom and my sister (who were both already dressed) into my aunts bed room and we started the process of getting me into my gown. About 15 min. later I emerged all dressed and ready to be photographed.
The photographer had set a tarp up outside in the woods next to the house and he took some pictures of just me first and then of me and my mom and me and each of the girls and then all of the girls and I together. It was a lot of fun. My dad showed up at 3:45 and we got a couple of pictures together too! Then everyone left but the bridesmaids and my dad and I and we just sat around and waited for the limo. It was really quiet so I turned on the TV and the movie Angus was on! It's such a feel good movie and it was at the best part where Angus was telling of the jock at the prom!!! we all sat and watched for about 15 min and then the limo showed up!!! It was HUGE!!! It was a 20 passenger ford excursion and the driver was very good...he backed down my aunts long narrow driveway perfectly! We all piled in to head for the ceremony!
The limo arrived to the ceremony about 15 min. early, so we parked right in front and waited for those last min. guests to go inside before we went in. It had started to sprinkle so we headed in and had to run a little to not get wet!!! I went in and headed up the stairs to see all of the guys and DH's family waiting for us at the top of the stairs to go inside. The smiles on their faces when the saw me were priceless! Then I heard the triplets and boy oh boy were they beautiful!!! they all came up to me wide eyed and told me I looked like a princess and before I knew it, it was time for everyone to start down the isle. DH's mom and dad went first and then his sister and her fiancé went next. Then was my mom escorted by my twin brother. After that the music changed and the bridal party headed down the isle one by one...I took the triplets around a little corner so we couldn't be seen by the guests in the main room and I squatted down and told them how pretty they were and got them ready to go down the isle. After I saw my maid of honor walk down I kind of guided them to the door and they went down with no problem! I could hear the laughs and awwws coming from the crowd...then my father and I walked to the entrance of the door and everyone stood! I smiled and saw DH at the end and I did everything I could to hold back tears. My dad went behind me and fluffed my dress one last time, I took his arm and we began the walk down the isle.
The first person I saw was one of my co workers and her face was all red and the tears were just streaming down her face, I laughed and then out came the tears. i wasn't sobbing as much as I was the night before, but it was a pretty good chin quivering cry! It seemed that everyone I passed had tears in their eyes, including my huge Italian cousins!!! I could hear my aunt crying from the front row and I saw lots of smiling faces from both sides of the isle!!! we got to the front and my dad kissed me and passed my hand up the stairs to meet DH on the stage! As soon as I got up their and I could see DH clearly I felt much better. I regained my composure and was all better! The ceremony was very short (11 min. someone said!). We said our I Do's and then we lit the unity candle. While we did that our friend sang his song and we watched...then we came back to the middle and said our vows and we were pronounced husband and wife!!! We had a very nice kiss, it wasn't too short, or too long, and I went back in for another quick kiss after the first one just because I was so happy!!!! We turned and faced the guests and DH helped me down the stairs and we made our way out of the hall and into the lobby area. We got their just in time to see some of DH's friends walk up the stairs that had missed the entire ceremony (I didn't care, I was married!!!!!). DH and I and the rest of the bridal party made our way down the stairs and into a little room so we could avoid a receiving line and we eventually made our way up the back stairs for pictures in the hall! I hugged just about everyone who walked in front of me...I was just so happy I wanted to share the love with everyone!!!!
The photographer set up the family pictures in the hall and they were very nice...then we all made our way down the stairs to the limo outside and piled and drove over to the lodge at the turning stone casino for more pictures! it took us about 30 min. to get there and it was nice and relaxing in the limo with the bridal party!!! We arrived at the lodge and they got out our Champaign and we all had a toast. the photographer went right to work getting shorts of us all set in the lobby with our Champaign glasses, then a shot of DH playing the piano with me leaning on it listening to him! Next were some group shots in side the lobby in front of the huge fire place and then we moved outside. He did a couple shots of the triplets holding my train and some of DH and all the girls and then DH and his guys holding him up...then some of me and the guys, a couple of the whole party with our hands above our heads...then some of DH and I with him giving me a piggy back ride and then us just walking up the lawn holding hands and leaning over to kiss. When we went out to the limo he had us stop in the front where there was a pillar and a waterfall and we did a couple more shots there...I can't wait to see those pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!
After we left the Lodge we drove to the reception and started to unpack the limo in the parking lot. I had set up a shuttle to pick anyone who wanted to up at 11 at the reception and bring them to the casino. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot I could see another bridal party...it was the psycho roommate's wedding party! OMG I must say my wedding party was so much classier and prettier!!! Let's just leave it at that!!!
So we got out of the limo and made our way into the reception and started to mingle with the gusts during the cocktail hour. Everyone wanted a picture of me or with me and EVERYONE was all hugs telling me how beautiful I was and how happy DH and I looked at the ceremony and how our love was just bubbling out of us!!! It was nice to hear that people could tell just how much in love we were!!! I made my way to the head table and I checked out the centerpieces and the cake and all the extras we had done to make the wedding special. Everything looked really good, even though they had the vases the wrong way on the table runners, it was still nice. I guess there was an issue with the cake, but I haven't had a chance to talk to the woman who got that for me so I’m not 100% sure what it was (other then the cake was ugly and about to tip over).
After about 30 min. of mingling with our guests we were asked to line up for the introductions. our photographer snapped a couple pictures during this time and before I knew it we were out on the dance floor with everyone clapping and I was nothing but smiles!!! DH and I had our first dance and we talked just about the whole time. It was hard to let him lead because it's natural for me to take charge, but by the end he was in control and he even managed to dip me for a kiss. It was sweet! After that we made our way to our seats and it was time for the BM and MOH speeches. The best man's was short, but my MOH went to town. She had three pages typed and it was funny and sad. She had the whole room in tears by the end. My aunt who was in the front was sobbing and said something like "Oh my god your killing me...please stop!" at some point. I have a copy so at some point I’ll post the highlights! After the speeches it was time for dinner. Everything looked great, but I didn't have much of an appetite (maybe it was because my dress was too tight). I had a couple bites of pasta and a few potatoes and a couple bites of chicken, but that's it. DH and I got up after we had our food and started the table mingle.
It was at this point that I realized that my half brother wasn't at the reception. I asked my family and they said that he had been at the ceremony (which I knew, I had a picture taken with him) and he had gone to the casino between the ceremony and reception, but they hadn't seen him since. I tried not to worry and we made our way around to the other tables and by the end of that it was time for the party to start. At some point my uncle came to tell me that he and my cousin had left the reception to go to the casino to see if he had maybe fallen asleep in the room, but they didn't find him. About 30 min. after that we got a phone call from his roommate telling us that he was home in bed?!?!?! I put it out of my head because he was safe, but I'm still confused and waiting to hear from him about what happened.
The party got underway and we had the father/daughter dance and the mother/son dance...then we did the cake cutting (I got DH right up the nose!!! After all of that we danced and danced and had a great time! It seemed that everyone was having fun...even if they were at their table and not dancing they were still talking and laughing with their other table members. Before I knew it they were playing the second to last song (the grease mega mix) and DH and I did our little skit to that and then it was the last song for the night...I danced with DH for about 30 seconds, but then I saw my dad by himself looking at a wall, so I kissed DH and went and asked my dad to dance with me. After that was over i paid for the reception, got on the shuttle and headed over to the casino!!!!
The ride was loud and I was tired...but it was fun. We ended up at the casino and DH and I parted ways from the group to head to our hotel (it was behind the casino) and change. On our way through the casino we stopped at a craps table and lost about $70.00 in 10 min. and then we kept walking to our hotel. People were looking at us and congratulating us, but I was much too tired to really enjoy it. We got to our hotel and checked in and when we got to our room they had all the Champaign we didn't drink in our room along with a cheese/cracker plate and some fruit. There was chocolate on the bed and a rose too. It was sweet! We rested a bit and changed and then we headed back to the casino to meet up with our family and friends who were still partying and gambling it up!!!! We didn't last long...maybe an hour or two before we were ready to go to bed. We were in bed and asleep by 2:00am!!!
